If you're still playing Phantasy Star Universe online on your PC or PS2, you might as well play as much of it as you can. Sega has announced that they'll be shutting down the game's PC and PS2 servers by the end of March.

The shutdown will be heralded by the last content update to be released on January 29th, which will also kick off the MAG+ event. After the 29th, no new subscriptions will be avaiable for purchase. Those who are still subrscribed as of that time will be able to play the game for free until the servers are turned off on March 31, 2010.

Of course, even when the servers shut down you can still enjoy the game's single-player mode. If you really want to play online you can still switch over to the Xbox 360 version as Sega will still be supporting it. More content for the Xbox 360 version will reportedly be announced over the coming months.

That's a rather sad way to celeberate PSO's tenth anniversary. Still, PSU had a good run.

I am surprised there are no private servers already (for the PC version anyways).

Well it's probably a good thing they didn't yet though. I wouldn't want to see sega loose business on their game. I just hope now the game isn't playable (Well except 360) We'll see like a PC private server or something.

The private servers should only come once they launch a new PSO game. Just like it did with PSO Blue Busrt. Theres only 1 private server, yes, but one hell of a good sever tough o-o

I think that if they are shutting down the server they should make the online content available offline (weapons, classes, etc.) because there is very little content offline even on extra mode.
