OnLive is wooing back customers to join its Game Service by offering its subscription for free! Yes, gone now are the days when you have to dig deep into your pockets just to access it, they have now gotten rid of that barrier, and smartly so too!

"It's official," said CEO Steve Perlman in a blog post. "There will be no base monthly fee for the OnLive Game Service going forward. WOOT! Free Instant-play Demos, Free Massive Spectating, Free Brag Clip Videos, messaging, friending." The cloud gaming service launched with a heavy cost of US$ 14.95 for subscription. Of course, this on top of the fees for the individual games in it drove potential customers away.

But they've learned their lesson and they're making up for that misstep. "Although we wish we could have confirmed no monthly fee from the get-go, pioneering a major new video game paradigm is hard: we had to first grow to a large base of regular users before we could undesrtand usage patterns and operating costs. Now that we've reached that stage, we can confidently say a monthly fee is not needed."
