Modern Warfare 2

Infinity Ward has released a new patch for the PC version of Modern Warfare 2. This one includes fixes for collision detection and some hacks, among other things.

Here's the list of fixes. Unless otherwise noted, these patches will also be introduced to the game's PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. According to IW's Robert Bowling, patches for the console versions are currently undergoing testing.

Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized.
Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry.
Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s.
Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and 'elevators'.
Mouse latency tweaks for more mouse movement consistency. (PC-ONLY)
Fixes to prevent various texture (PC-ONLY) and XP hacks, including the prevention of obtaining negative XP.

you can still do super speed knifing, all you need is throwing knife. what you do is press knife and then quickly press throwing knife button and then very quickly press change weapon button. all that does is cancel the the knifing action and knife super fast. hope this helps!
(P.S. it can be done on all platforms)it takes alot of practice to be pro at it and be able to do it while running

the 360 xp hack will never be patched because it is a console mod that cannot be patched with an update or server update maybe on the ps3 and cp but never the 360

This means that you cannot put a sentry gun inside textures. Example: Inside a rock or a wall, these kind of things are strange mostly happens accidental but when you are inside a geometry or a rock or whatever you want to call it you can see everything outside (same goes for the sentry) but no one can harm you or see you inside unless spectating.

Just means that the guns were setup inside of objects, walls, barrels, boxes, etc.

Sort of like in WAW where on certain maps people could get under the ground. They'd be able to shoot you, but no one could shoot them.

Well i'm personally glad to see the care package fast running deal taken care of. I play a lot of sabotage myself and that really drives me insane watching the "noobs" and even those who have played thru a few times and prestiged players using that to run the bomb from one end of the map to the other. Let alone giving them an automatic tactical knife to use just to get an advantage on the other team. I play alot on the playstation 3 but really never see anyone doing the "elevator" glitches during matches, only in private matches for fun. The elevator is fun but it takes time to get that right and by the time you try your killed. I have used that to explore a few maps and noticed that there are parts of CoD4 in the maps outside of the normal maps. I can't exactly remember what map it was on either game but the CoD4 had a downstairs and the upstairs was cut off to the third floor. On MW2 you can see that building without basement but you can bypass the steps to the third floor and go to the top of it. It was nice to see some old easter eggs like that. If your looking for it, its near a spawn area to the left side behind an open link fence that you can see. I'm sure if you search youtube you can find it.

This one sounds funny. FMJ increases damage of a weapon, but since this is going to fix that for the '87s, there would be no damage increase from them. It can still be used to shoot people through walls, but how often do you shoot someone with a shotgun through a wall?

Actually using FMJ on any gun does not increase damage, even though it says so in the Damage bar on the class creation menu. What it actually does is decrease the loss of damage of bullets when going through walls or other materials. The loss is determined by the angle at which you are shooting at the wall.
Now, increased range from FMJ is new to me and that should be patched. FMJ has nothing to do with bullet range (in theory at least)

fix 102/1000 , operation keep patch untel MW3 , guys dont see that u play a beta game full of bugs , ive found about 20 bugs in 1st gameplay . sad IW been kicked by activision .

What do you get out of this vizard; you've been talking down on MW2 for at least a coupla months now...yes the game has flaws but what game doesn't? Surely you've got better stuff to do

Anyways, another patch is welcome. I've seen plenty of people exploit the extra speed gained from the care package marker (though I don't get why they made it like that) and run around like Speedy Gonzales.
It's a good/bad thing the "elevators" are being fixed as well. It's fun to explore the maps in a private game, but good to have out in a public game. Last night I had a bit o' fun taking out people constantly trying to glitch up the roof on Highrise.
Never seen any sentry guns placed out of bounds though...

If you haven't known, the pc version is updated every 2 days. The version keeps on changing its almost crazy.
