Costs have been high for the development of EA's Star Wars: The Old Republic. The company's not worried, however. They're confident that they'll be able to recoup their expenses, just as soon as their expected 2 million subscribers come rolling in.

This is what Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia found out when he visited the EA offices. According to his report, "earnings are somewhat depressed" because of the game's development. The two million subscribers should be enough to rake in profits, but they'd still need at least a million players for them to break even.
It would now be up to the diehard Star Wars fans to make it a successful one for EA.
