If PC is where you get your game on, then you might want to take a look at Direct2Drive. The digital distribution service has now implemented a new scheme to provide game rentals, and it takes a slightly different path compared to its competitors' rental schemes.

For US$ 5, Direct2Drive will give you five hours worth of playtime with a selected title. If you decide to purchase the full game, the five bucks that you already paid will be snipped off the price tag. The selection, however, is very limited for now. The only ones you can rent are Divinity II - Ego Draconis, F.E.A.R., Race Driver: Grid and Silent Hill: Homecoming.
That's their push - five hours for five dollars. How does it compare with the others?

Thats PC gaming for idiots if you ask me. Direct2Drive is pretty good. $5 for 5 hours and it comes off if you purchase isn't so bad. I got a lot of PC games that sucked and they cost me $50 so trying it for $5 seems good, they definitely need to get the best games up there, and the newest titles as well.
And STEAM does have free weekends, thank god they did the free weekend for Modern Warfare 2 because I'm glad I didn't buy that crap.
PC gaming is great, but pirating is killing it slowly. If every PC game had a demo like nearly every Xbox 360 game I think we'd see increased sales. Unfortunately its far too easy to pirate PC games, and it just doesn't hurt the developers, it hurts all consumers as well. This year should be amazing as far as gaming goes, hopefully people stop being douche bags like "Jhon White" above me and start supporting games.
I'm still playing Bad Company 2 daily...
