Digital downloads now for sale at GameStop

There's no stopping the outburst of digital downloads as an alternative means of purchasing games and other content. That's why retailers are making the smart move and joining this bandwagon. GameStop, for one, has already made the move, officially offering digital downloads for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP.

This has actually been cooking for quite some time now in the kitchens of GameStop - they just didn't go full throttle with it until now. With it going official and live today, however, video game fans can now have the option of making your purchases through your browsers, even without switching on your consoles.

For its debut run, the GameStop digital downloads section has about 70 Xbox 360 titles and 50 for the PS3. Of course, this is just their kickoff number, so expect this to expand in the coming months. Now, for you to go make that purchase happen, you just need a code to enter into your consoles. Check out the steps below:

lol@ bobdavey, next time make sure to put 2 diferent names before trying to troll impersonating 2 different people. Fail.

That aside, I've seen this on my local Gamestop for a while now. It's convenient for those people who don't own credit or debit cards. The downside is that most probably you will pay local taxes for that purchase compared to no taxes online.

Yeah but PSN cards have a fixed value. So you may end with unused credit.

If you're going to buy the digital copy of the game of choice, just go online to PS3/X360 marketplace and buy the game.

Although, PSN doesn't have many full PS3 games for sale, it's more Xbox 360 that does.

X360 got games on demand, while PS3 doesn't, unfortunate.

So is that mean that they pre-buy your game for you then you just pay for the code that they have and install it to your consoles?
Well smart move. Why the hassle? Ask Microsoft and Sony to make those full games (PS3 and Xbox 360) title to be payable via MS points and PSN points. Then they can concentrate on selling cards. Not every country supports credit cards from other region.

Looks like Gamestop are already getting their foothold IN........considering that USED/rental titles will be made redundant real soon if the Corps have their way. And then Retail later on. I can see that the day when everything goes Digital DL, thats the day when Hacking & Cyber Hi-jacking will become evermore rampant......I'm looking forward to it,,,,,lol
