Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-D3 and 5.03GEN-C coming tomorrow

Just a heads up guys, come tommorow, Team GENyUS will release the much anticipated Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-D3 and 5.03GEN-C for the PSP homebrew community.

According to MaGiXieN (as translated):

Both Custom Firmwares were ready, but we expect that all the headlines announced for Christmas to be released can ensure they are compatible and so we avoid a slew of updates.

We wanted to take this time to try adding a few new things but we had to give up for various technical reasons and also lack of time to devote to the project this holiday season and workload. We've lost too much time to deal with the new version of Go! Cam attempt to circumvent the absence of its drivers in the firmware below 6.xx. For now, we failed to find a publishable to worry but we do not give up. Note in passing that the new version of the PSP camera is impossible to remove because all the mail is stuck.

As you already know, this new update will include:

Compatibility with games / demos from the PSN sold until Listed
Compatible with UMD games sold until Listed

Here are the list of some unpatched new games that has been tested and compatible with the latest firmwares according to MaGiXieN:

Phantasy Star Portable 2
Naruto
J-League Pro Soccer Club o Tsukurou 6 Pride of J
Naruto Shippuden Narutimate Accel 3

The custom firmwares will be available between 20H and 23H59 tomorrow night, Tuesday, December 15, 2009 (French Time)

before anyone else trashes it, DAX hasn't released in ages and shows no intent of doing so. Going from a 5xx kernel to a 6xx kernel would be like the move from the fat 1.5 to the slim 3xx, all homebrew would need rewritten, many pieces of homebrew may never be rewritten, especially as sony removed functionality in the newer kernels. Kiss irshell goodbye. An updated 5xx kernel is the bomb until the entire scene is ready to recode everything. Thank you Team Gen for the update. Don't go saying its buggy unless you have an example. I encourage everyone to try it, report your bugs, GEN will fix any problems, and in a worse case senario, pandora back, atleast gen is still doing something, many thanks to DAX, who unquestionably paved the way for GEN, but until someone hears anything from DAX or ALEK, get used to it times have changed, peace :)

Kiss IrShell goodbye? So the one thing that makes me get the most out of the PSP, leave it behind just because GEN is an "update?" No.

M33 is still perfectly fine, every time a game comes out, it's patched within' 2-3 days, and I'll wait those 2 to 3 days longer to keep my PSP working with all it's current plugins, homebrew, and functionality. I will not say GEN is buggy, but not being able to play homebrew that has its biggest appeal to me will always be an automatic no.

Im actually gonna give it a shot. I mean one thing, i wanna play the new Gundam vs Gundam game. But from what i read and researched, there a Popsloader for it, and in terms of emulators, there some that are updated for 3xx kernel if you look hard enough.

As long as Pops, CPS2, Genesis, and SNES work, im fine with it. Give it a chance !! Worse case scenerio, you can Pandora back.

(sighs) still good job team Gen, i guess it's better than nothing. now that THE GOD Dark Alex isn't around we should be grateful for anyone stepping up.

Well its about 9:33pm monday (Dec 14th) in the US and about 632:pm tuesday (Dec 15th) in France.

From what it looks like and his the post above.

Im guessing Team GEN would release the new patch D3 when it hits 12:00am in the US. By that time, it would have been Dec 15 in the US and in France..

If it were released in "French Time" it would have already been released..

This update just basically allows to play new games.

It contributes to piracy.

Before ongoing about DA's CFW his were updates that had new functions like, 5.00 had PSN service that's the reason of the update.

I'm disappointed GEN came to this point.

DigitalComics and SensMe aren't that good, I have them but don't even use.

Agreed. But some games can't be patched anymore (Avatar for instance) and perhaps future games as well. An update of Game Decrypter would be nicer because, IMO, 5.00 M33 is still better so I too am sticking with it.

That makes me so sad. i am on m33 and me and my missus have been waiting for this update to my little girl can play invizimles with her new cam for christmas. I have been eagerly awaiting this ever since they announced the update now I have no need for it. :(

I don't mean to slag anyone off as I appreciate all they are doing but at least when DAX used to do our CFW he didn't announce dates and features weeks before he just gave us an update and announced the features when they were ready. that way there was no dissapointment.

Team GEN please don't tell us you WILL add these features until you are sure you can. It just feeds all the flamers reasons to put you down

Just update to 6.20 and you're all set. ;) It even allows you to play online.

The Sony guys are everywhere, so it's a matter of time before they release 6.30 or 6.40 to block 6.10/6.20 games.

Well, if this makes it so we can run newer games (ISOs), then I don't think it's "CONTRIBUTING" to piracy. You can still buy the game, turn it into an ISO with PSP Filer and play it off the memory stick. Loads quicker, saves battery, etc, etc.

However, I think they should work on Game Decrypter v5 because, to me, 5.00 M33 is still a very solid firmware.

GEN continues to show they can't make new CFW and only does this to support pirates. They're childish so they stopped decryptors and instead "update the firmware" which has nothing new except a new decryptor. Gen sucks ass and so does their firmware, we need someone competent to step onto the scene

I'm REALLY GLAD Gen continues to support new decryption. I just BOUGHT GTA Chinatown Wars yesterday. It plays great on my GEN-D2 PSP.

I would not have been able to BUY this game without the decryption in GEN.

I'm also getting LBP PSP for Christmas. Same thing, no decryption, no buying new titles for my CFW PSP.

So, GEN is supporting people buying from and supporting new PSP development while still having their homebrew.

So haters: GTFO, if you have nothing else to contribute to the CFW scene aside from irresponsible and misinformed criticism.

Brilliant! I'll be there downloading it ASAP. Been running 5.50Gen for a while now and it's faultless. Never had a problem with it!

Dax was just too slow. I had new UMDs and I wasn't prepared to wait for him to get up off his (potentially) fat arse and update his firmware. Keep up the great work Gen!

sony does not want people with custom firmwares to access their store. If they don't want to let people in to buy things legit, then they have no reason to complain about piracy. Recently the French courts ruled that DS flashcards where legal, and added functionality to the system, and that nintendo had no right to block people out of the machine in the first place. Sony is no exception. Senseme sucks ass, and if that is the make or break for you trying this firmware, your a retard, go buy an ipod (ugh) and stfu. Also Gen held out on the release to wait for certain games to come out, otherwise there would have been a patch a week later to update, and everyone would have complained about another update. Who uses that retarded camera anyway, sony didn't release the chotocam in the US, for a good reason, if you don't have a camera in your phone by now, you are way behind the curve. The camera sucks, senseme sucks, and sony is not interested in selling legit software to modded consoles, so F'em. Thank you gen for all your hard work.

wouldn't it be amazing if people did things like coding for the love of it, rather than the money, you can't say that people won't create worthwhile apps out of passion, qj.net is full of software that has been written out of passion and not greed. The current market model is a failure, these companies have been milking the customers for years, with minimal profits going to developers, and more and more of it going to cooperate overhead. If the developer actually got the bulk of the money, it would be a diffrent story, but i am tired of paying sony, paramount, bmg, ect... for something that they did not actually do, they middle manned for some creative people, and that is not worth an 80% or more cut. if it wasn't for these bloated cooperations, your games would already be free, or very cheap, and devs would learn to milk the after market with DLC. Piracy is the revolt of the masses to being used for years, you wonder why the US is in such a bad economy, thats it, the big becoming bigger, and doing less.
