SEGA has revealed that the upcoming PC version of Alpha Protocol will utilise a new copy-protection system from Uniloc in an effort to combat potential pirates of the games. But according to a report from Eurogamer, the Uniloc DRM system has a troubled past when it was introduced in the 2008 release of Football Manager 2009:
Uniloc came under fire in November 2008 when Football Manager 2009 owners had trouble authenticating games online. SEGA said that was due to high demand and a small key-printing hiccup.
But this time around, the company promises that the DRM solution will be “polite and unobtrusive, without compromising you experience”. Alpha Protocol will be out in Europe on May 28 and June 1 in the US for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
