fake assetsA woman who made a living out of selling her fake assets - pirated films and PS2 and XBox games, people - was convicted for piracy and counterfeiting offenses by the Liverpool Crown Court this Thursday, August 17th.

On July 24th of 2004, the Liverpool Trading Standards, Merseyside Police and an investigator from ELSPA (Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association) caught 46-year-old Susan Roach in possession of illegally copied PS2 and Xbox games and was sentenced to serve 12 months in jail. Roach was believed to have made over £850,000 from her illegal operations and was called back for a hearing on August 11th wherein the court confiscated an estimated £250,000 worth of her remaining assets.

pirated gamesThe Proceeds of Crime Act (2002) enabled the Liverpool Trading Standards and the North West Regional Assets Recovery Team to ask the judge to confiscate her remaining assets. Details as to whether Roach is to serve a further jail sentence and an order regarding the amount of fines she would be required to pay were not given at the court hearing.

Remember, say NO to piracy. Unless you want your assets to be grabbed too.

He has a good point piracy is illegal and shouldn't be done. I for one have paid (OMG he's paid for stuff) yes that's right I pay for what I want like all good people of the world. It makes sure companies still make the things we want again and more often instead of taking losses cuz of people who just steal things for a living
