Tons of New Additions in Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2

MicrosoftThere will be home networks galore when Windows Vista comes out, and we're lucky enough to get a taste of this with the second beta of Windows Media Player 11.

This latest version of WMP 11 is set to work with other products aside from Vista, as it will allow for streaming content to the XBox 360, the upcoming Zune mp3 player, and assorted digital media receivers.

Not surprisingly, Microsoft is also bringing WMP 11 to work with their own music store, Urge, which is going to be a direct competitor to the popular iTunes. You may not like the monopoly about it, but the set-up looks like a strong Microsoft retaliation to the strength of Apple.

Of course, Version 11 has the same functionality as its predecessor, which offered CD and DVD burning and ripping as well as music library management. Just remember that you'll need to pick up Service Pack 2 before you can use it, ok?

When all of these features had been realized when the Beta of WMP 11 was released months ago?

» OMG sorry for Double Post

If you have a home network (wired or wireless), you can use Windows Media Player 11 to stream the contents of your library to networked devices. For example, if you have an Xbox 360 or other digital media receiver (DMR), you can use Windows Media Player to stream music, pictures, and videos from your computer to that device.

OMG yes i believe the official microsoft site says u can wathc videos on the 360 with it! yay !!!

I have to use Windows Media Player to put music on my phone. I absolutly hate it, I SO wish it could use the MUCH better iTunes instead. The less I see of that program, the better.

» update dashboard?

IMO WMP11 > iTunes. Everything about it is better, from music organization to even the UI. iTunes looks plain and boring (white is plain and boring), but WMP11 is sleek and black.

Remember that magic acronym people, thats my opinion, no flames
