First off, we're reminding the readers that Microsoft has chopped down the Xbox 360's HD-DVD player peripheral down to just US$ 49.99. Wondering what's with the sudden reminder? Apparently, word on the street is that some Target outlets have yet to alter the price tags of their own stocks, which are still being sold for their original price or US$ 179.99.

Here's a screenshot of what we mean, taken over at a Midwestern Target store:

No details are available at the moment as to why the shop's still selling the drive at full price. For now, consider this a friendly reminder so that you don't find yourself getting ripped off. You may also want to be careful in case it's not just Target's outlets that may have misquoted the player's new official price.

Check back again in case more info regarding this matter is found.

A lot of stores still have not lowered the price. What do they expect to do with them?

» Yep.

Same goes for K-Mart and Walmart.

» That's just a mylar...

Store shelf mylars sometimes just get left on the shelf. There could easily be a sticky price tag with a lower price.

Besides, people buying these things at Target probably don't know any better.

It's not the fault of Target. Whoever is stupid enough to buy this thing at this price deserves it....
