Sony's Blu-ray Player BDP-S1 Pushed Back to October 25

bluraySony's Blu-Ray player, BDP-S1, isn't going to see the light of day until October 25. The new delay puts the release date of the BDP-S1 so close to the mid-November release of the PS3, which also offers Blu-ray playback.

It will take more than speculations to wipe that curious look off your face, but it has been assumed  that Sony and its partners want to launch the BDP-S1 ahead of the PS3 to make sure consumers understood the system by the time the PS3 arrives. But with delays under its belt, it would seem that Sony is grooming the PS3 to be the standard bearer for the Blu-ray discs. This could be a failure on Sony's part to get its timetable right, but it can also mean that there could be a change in strategy. But I guess, we'll never know.

The BDP-S1 is due to launch at a price point of $999.95 in North America.

1. This is not the BDP-S1 player from Sony in that picture.

2. Samsungs Blu-ray player will hit the market next week.

These blu-ray players are damn sexy... HD-DVD Players are well... bland.. and look boring.

These players have style.. loving it. I have a Sammy on order.. can't wait!!! 1080p ftw!!!

But yeah.. it'll collect dust when the PS3 finds a place in my house... until then though :D:D::D

See, this is why the PS3 is a bargain for what its worth, why pay $999 US, when you can get a PS3 for (cant remember US price, $700-750 AUS)?, you get a powerful gaming console (the cell, Blu-Ray driver and GPU would alone set you back $2000 in computer prices, at least), i do not see the point in buying just a stand-alone Blu-Ray player, when you can get the PS3 for cheaper and something more worth while for your money (But i do think that some stand-alone Blu-Ray players can record, have hard-drives or something)

Peace =)
