(Alright, you caught us with the price typo - we just wanted to discourage everyone from buying it so we could have them all for ourselves!)

This is a big typo lol. If you go to the link you will see that the price is $749 and NOT $4749... I bet the person pressed the money sign twice by accident and let go of shift.

I didn't even see the $4749 price tag and when I read the "oops our mistake" thing I thought "Ok, so it's not $749..." lol but that IS the price!!! WOW. I think I might hold off on getting me one of those.

even if the ps3 cannot burn, a dvd player is half a dvd burner so I suppose 749/2= 374$ if you take that from the ps3 price : 499$-374$=125$ the the ps3? no, the BD/DVD/CD burner have to make money, sony loose about 150$ ( or more ) on each ps3 they sell and make the cash with games royalties... Anyway I just wanted to say the ps3 cost a lot a little bit because of the BD player anyway.

( even if sony have to spend also on the cell, the cell coolant, and the 20-60gig HDD lol )

If you make up the numbers yourself don't wonder why they only apply to your inner universe and aren't compatible with the real world.

I'd say this ist extremely cheap for a start - the first DVD burners came for around 2000$ IIRC...

Thats one expensive paper weight. just think..in 20 years that thing will be on display in the smithsonian with the rest of sony's formats. the exhibit will be called "The Hall of Shame" and it will be narated by Tony Danza...and to the commenter that said whatever mac goes with will be the winner..you are an ass....mac is following pc's. so whatever format wins will be the one mac gets.
