Sony CEO Howard Stringer talks about profit |
Ó
As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Corporation of America, Howard Stringer has had to dodge flak on behalf of Sony. But Stringer has high hopes for Sony's future and plans to make Sony Corp. meet its goal of a 5% profit margin for next year. Here are some things that will help him, according to ABC News:- In October, Sony reported a big profit loss (more than 90%) because of the laptop battery recall and expenses related to the PS3 rollout. But Stringer said the PS3 should break even by the end of the year.
- The Bravia TVs and audio products are doing well with gross margin profits of 4%. This is according to Stan Glasgow, president of Sony Electronics of America.
- The Sony Reader (an electronic book or e-book reader) are also selling well in the US. Sales of downloadable e-books are better than music sales from Sony's Connect Store. They'll also release a new wireless Sony Reader (to compete with Amazon.com which is expected to enter the e-book market).
By the way, to keep the good news rolling, analysts are now affirming that the PS3 is expected to sell better than the Xbox 360 or Wii worldwide, so you can expect articles about that soon.

What I want to see are sale figures for the PSP....
Sony Rules and of story!
Mr.Common Sense can you not gloat about this?
Im a huge sony fan too but gloating will only start another war...
Once again, lets keep this clean...
Stop flaming people.......stupid 13 year olds.
Quit using my name broken zero.
You really are pathetic how you can't prove anything I say wrong instead you call me a kid. It's OK to be wrong if you're a man about it.
You can tell if my posts are genuine if they make sense. Sony did rule, last generation. Now their real motives are becoming clear. You NEED a PS3, you NEED a 1080p sony monitor, you NEED the latest sony surround sound system with HDMI input, and of course the sony PSP.
Why can't sony just sell a simple game console anymore? In the 80s a NES, the best game system available was only $80 with a game and 2 controllers. They didn't build it into a VCR and tape player and charge $200 or whatever for it! Now everybody thinks you need all this crap they say you need and so do the people on this forum. The 360 lets you buy just a game system for relatively cheap with other features that don't make it cost more.
