See us moving like that: IBM manufactures 65nm Cell, too |
Ó
IBM press announced that they've recently moved to 65 nanometer (65nm) technology in manufacturing Cell processors, joining Sony in the 65nm wagon and making it two-for-two for Cell manufacturing with the smaller tech. Basic speculation improved: the next production of PS3 units will feature the 65nm chips which, if it does help defray production costs for future runs, should help improve Sony's bottom line. And with the same logic, IBM's bottom line certainly looks more attractive (what with its fingers in all the console gaming pies). And if the Cell finds ever-growing adoption in computers and home electronics - not to mention the military... excuse me, I need to call my stock broker.

that's so cool, it means that the PS3 with this 65nm CELL will run cooler than earlier models, and that's a definite plus cause it's also mean the fan will work less to keep things cool and results in a much quieter PS3.
It can't get much quieter than it already is, I mean, it's really quiet as it is, not even an Xbot can deny that. It definitely gonna bring Sony closer to a price drop, that and Blu-Ray doing so well... Cant wait!!
don't forget that it also consumes much less electricity.
The PS3 easily uses the most electric. Makes me wonder how when the performance is much less than the XBOX 360. Maybe they should add another processor core to make the graphics comparable to other systems.
Not a fanboy of sony but explane to me "mister common sense" this is why must MS have to release a new x360 v2? with hdmi and other blah add-ons when the ps3 was the only gamein consol that came with hidmi? and u say it can't compar graphics to other system give it a break. I played both system on a 65in lcd hdtv and boy I tell u the graphics of the hdmi ps3 beats the x360 from what I seen.
