Wanna be mistaken for a mugger or an extraterrestrial while playing your PSP, answering a text message, or working on your PC? Well, if that floats your boat, then this piece of clothing genius from Joe Malia ought to do the trick. What happens when a proportion of the people using a new technology see it to be so enticing that they are willing to sacrifice every other aspect of their lives in order to engage with it? They wear this and they don't care what other people think!
For now there are scarves like these for PSP addicts, desktop users, and cell phone junkies. I tell you, if you'll use this, the privacy level will be so high plus you can't see those people gawking and laughing at you. Although I'm not so sure if this thing could kill you because of suffocation. These concepts actually originated from Joe's project, Design for the Computer Obsessive, which is a requirement for one of his subjects. I personally wanna try the desktop scarf, just to weird out my officemates (ha, ha)!
For now, these garments are still in the drawing board, but who knows? There might come a time when you're strolling by Target and you see one of these thingamajigs on sale. How about you? You wanna try 'em on or do you think it's just plain ridiculous? Tell us through your comments.

This one's listed under "Off-Topic" and never was it mentioned in the article that it's some kind of "news". You could read it, just for the sake of "humor". I bet when you first saw the pics, it got your attention, right? I know most of you want real PSP updates, but it wouldn't hurt to have this kind of post every once in a while; name one newspaper that has no cartoons. :)

No, getting out doesn't involve strapping your psp or pc monitor to your head. Just sit at home with the lights off or something! LOL, I'd have to die laughing if I actually saw this in use - now if you have elephantitis of the face, I partially understand... but DAMN this is ridiculous!
i for one would might consider buying this for the long car trips this thing would come in handy with my psp
goofiness aside, you people neglect the sensory deprevation advantages, which might help you immerse yourself in a video or game or whatever (and by whatever I mean xxx)
a faceplate with an anti-glare filter would be a lot nicer than one of these things... someone should make one

This is a good idea. I wouldn't suggest wearing it in public. The desktop one has promise. Ever try to drape a towel or blanket over the screen to achieve a more immersive effect? I used to do it playing Lucas arts "x-wing." And seriously whoever says you can't see the keyboard or adjust the monitor settings is retarded. Who feels like they can't use a keyboard in the dark? After all this time using a keyboard, I think that most of us would not have a problem with the WASD configuration or any other keys. Albeit, this does look rediculous, and possibly dangerous to wear in public, but it's not a bad idea. Porn is no more a waste of bandwith than anything else on this site becuase it is totally useless, but entertaining.
I agree with Dr. Donkey... the desktop one would be fun to try out - esp if you actually play online in tournaments or anything that takes full concentration. I would bring one to quakecon for sure! The outdoors one is stupid, but indoors where no one can see would be perfect. Pretty good idea. Hit me up if you need a beta tester :)
