Sandisk has just upped the ante on SD card storage, ladies and gents of the techie world. Sandisk has announced the development of a 12 GB microSDHC card, which is now being sent to major phone manufacturers for testing and evaluation. The new card is a big boost in memory from existing 8GB microSDHC cards and, according to their release, can store approximately 24.5 hours of video, 3,600 photos, or 1,500 songs. That's definitely a lot to keep on your phone or other handheld device.
Notes Jeff Kost, senior vice president and general manager of the Mobile Consumer Solutions division at SanDisk,
Mobile phones have become a key part of consumersÂ’ lifestyles around the globe. What many people tend to overlook is the important role that removable storage cards play in enabling the key features of these fully featured mobile phones.
To that end, Sandisk has also coupled the announcement of the 12 GB microSDHC card with a campaign to raise awareness on the usefulness of the card slot that's incorporated into many phones today.
No pricing info is available for this device at the moment, but we'll update you on the latest on this new card once information becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to have dreams of 12GB of goodness on your mobile phone.
