This report from Gamasutra should erase any and all doubts lingering in your minds about just how successful Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii) truly is. The three DLC packs alone that the game released digitally for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles "only" managed to push 6.5 million units between the months of March and Mid-August 2009. How's that for a big performer?

Gamasutra further approximates that the mega-war title raked in a whopping US$ 45 million for Activision. Averaging each box's cost in retail, it becomes US$ 65.

In order to be able to get to these statistics, Gamasutra gathered data and information from NPD, EEDAR and Activision PR. Jesse Divinich of EEDAR also noted that "59% of Call of Duty: World at War retail sales occurred in the United States."
