Portable Xbox = Project Argo? |

As we've reported before, a portable Xbox has been rumored about for almost as long as the regular Xbox has been around. But lately, the rumor mill is working overtime, and various pictures of the alleged portable have sprouted up all over, even though Microsoft has denied its existence.
The latest word is that the device on the left is called "Project Argo", and is Microsoft's Xbox-branded wireless portable media player, otherwise known as Microsoft's answer to Apple's iPod.
This picture was sent to Engadget allegedly from an insider working on the Argo project. But is it the real deal, or just a protoype of a hypothetical Microsoft portable?
The screen appears to have a 4:3 aspect ratio display, and might be 3 to 3.5 inches wide. Would such a device be able to play Xbox games? Would it be connected to Xbox Live or Live Aware? The suspense continues to mount.
Check back - we'll have more news as it becomes available.

Features I want in an mp3 player:
1. Large drive to store a complete collection of music (60gb is suffice)
2. True Drag'n'Drop into folder functionallity, ie. nothing that relies on iTunes/WMP etc. This coupled with a database to make file searching much faster, and allow searching by genre and so on.
3. Compact and sturdy. The iPod is very compact, but is fragile as hell, can't even keep it your pocket with any other item.
4. A good scrolling device. The scroll wheel is good, scroll bars aren't, neither are buttons for scrolling.
I, like most people, aren't that fussed by video playing abilities in mp3 players. Everybody thinks it's a cool feature at first, but then never uses it again. Just stick to building a device for its intended use (music!).
While I'm on the matter, why does every screen have to be colour on mp3 players? A high-contrast black&white OLED display would not only look awesome (white on pure black), it would be much easier to read, save battery life, allow for the screen to be on permanantly when playing music and bring down the cost of the unit. Please, electronics companies - get a clue!!!

These devices run a modified form of XP Tablet Edition, and are produced by several companies. There was an article just yesterday about the Samsung model.
These devices are sized inbetween a PDA and a laptop, but priced more than a top of the range PDA + a top of the range laptop combined, are limited in power and battery life. But they do have a nice large touch screen.
Trust Microsoft to screw up a heavily hyped product launch. I predict that this mp3 device will be no different.
