PNY logo - Image 1Does PNY Technologies ring a bell? If you happen to know their stock of graphics cards (GeForce) or flash memory cards, then it shouldn't be too surprising that they are announcing the release of a new SD card, dubbed the "Gaming Card."

What makes this particular set of SD cards interesting (at least according to their ad) is that it's fully compatible with the Wii and with the PS3 (the PS3 will be hitting Europe this March 23rd).

The card comes in either 1GB or 2GB capacity, priced at Â£ 19.90 (US $39) and Â£ 34.90 (US $68) respectively. Expect their product to hit this March 7 on their online store and your local retailers. Or, if you prefer something more in the way of uber-slim file carriers...

Any SD card is compatible with both of these, this is just marketing. Learn to distinguish.

don't they all use the same file system? (NTFS)...so, what makes this any different than a normal sd card?

No, they use fat32, not ntfs. But still, they are all the same. Only difference is price. Gaming cards will of course be more expensive.

It is incredibly interesting that these SD cards are compatible with devices that use SD cards. There is nothing special about the PS3 and Wii. With all due respect, this is the *****tiest post I've seen in, like, two days.

Whats with all these companies making Wii and PS3 compatible cards that cost a lot more than a normal SD card? All SD cards are compatible. It should be illegal to benefit from people's ignorance. Like parents who go out and buy the console for their kid, usually parents are ignorant in technology, and the kid asked for an SD card too, they'll just put down more money thinking that you need a Wii specific SD card to use it. I remember when I went to buy my SD card for my MP3 player my dad was with me because I got no car and he asked the guy if the card was compatible with my MP3 player, which he said the name of it totally wrong. Man that was embarrassing.
