For UK's more hardcore racing game fans, we've got something you might be interested in. Playseat has just announced that they will now be marketing their Playseat Evolution chair for your local market. As compared to other gamer chairs you've probably encountered, this chair is built with the resident racer in mind, and currently hosts these features:
  • Folding racing seat
  • Fully adjustable oval piping steel construction
  • Available in White or Black colour options
  • Compatible with all major consoles are supported including: Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Wii, X-Box, X-Box 360 and PC
  • Compatible with all electronic steering wheels and pedals including the new Logitech G25 (gearshift holder required - see image above right)
  • Other accessories available
Interestingly, Playseat Evolution is also a sponsor of the Dutch A1 racing team. In fact, the chair has been tested by all of the team's drivers. The chair currently retails for £ 239 (US$ 326.50).

hmm

i've been doing some research on this product but i'm still unsure whether or not i'm going to actually buy it. i could simply build one on my own, but is it worth the effort? is it really worth shelling out $300 for this product? i've heard complaints here and there but i'm hearing that this product is overall excellent when disregarding the hefty price.

Rather buy a Wii, or a 360 for that price. Sheesh.

Uh ok?

Kind of a cool product, but do you really need to buy something like that? What's wrong with a couch?

Thanks for the advertisment QJ!

First of all, I don't see a place for a shifter, which is absolutely essential (yes I looked at the picture on the right. It's not there). Secondly, the vertical column between the legs is not idea because it obstructs the heel-toe technique. Since significantly better *****pits have been on sale for a very long time I conclude that this is merely a paid advertisement...

I plan on building one next summer. Designing and testing will take that long if I work on it casually (few hours a week at the most). Building it will most likely cost more than $300 and will be A LOT of work, but like a said below, this racing sim is nothing specail and I know I can do better.
