Phantom Entertainment updated its plans for its mysterious Phantom Game Service and will now take the form of client software on PCs running Windows XP and Windows XP Media center operating systems. The Phantom Game Service, which has yet to be launched, was originally a Windows-based receiver that would allow customers to play games-on-demand via a broadband connection. The service has been in development for a few years and was hailed as the next big thing in the gaming scene. That was two or three years ago. The service was envisioned to provide current and future PC games via direct download content delivery instead of the discs and cartridges used by most game consoles.
Meanwhile, the company's upcoming Phantom Lapboard - a combination wireless keyboard, laser mouse and hard surface that make working or gaming from a couch, easy chair or any comfortable setting easy - was also delayed by month. It is now expected to launch this November.
