On Blu-ray This Week: March 17 to March 23, 2008 |
Ó
For this week's batch of Blu-ray releases, we have two new titles set to make the trip to the high definition shelves. Don't look so glum - these two titles will pretty much give you the proper doses of romance, comedy, action, drama, animation, suspense, and everything else in between. Don't believe us? Ask the dishes! (Sorry, can't help it.)
So what are these two titles? Enchanted from Disney / Buena Vista and I Am Legend from Warner Bros. While these two movie titles are from different sides of the genre spectrum, they both promise good entertainment for you and your couch potato friends. Anyway, let's take a closer look at the titles.
First on this back-to-back release comes in the form of 2007 sci-fi thriller, I Am Legend. Like The Omega Man, it's based on Richard Matheson's novel with the same name and it is in fact the third film adaptation of the said novel. I Am Legend gives us a glimpse of what would happen if a man-made lethal virus causes an outbreak that wipes out nearly the entire population of Earth. What would you do if you're the only one left and there are a thousand rabid mutants after you?
Next we have the family-musical-fantasy-comedy-romance film, Enchanted. It's Disney's homage/self-parody to all of its princess feature films (Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Cinderella, and Snow White, among others) and it centers on Giselle, a princess sent to a place with no "happily ever after." The place in question happens to be in the real world: New York. Yes, it's complete with spontaneous bursting into song and dance, plus animal friends.
That's all we have for this week. Stay tuned as we'll have more goodies for your Blu-ray home entertainment system in the coming days.

I Am Legend is ok but I thought 28 Weeks Later was better.
Better in some ways. I am legend has more sader moments. The zombies were too cgi looking though.
