On Blu-ray This Week: June 9 to June 15, 2008 - Image 1

Last week we saw an interesting mix of monster movies, wartime veterans, and wacky Spartans grace the covers of our Blu-ray releases. This week delivers much of the same variety as we see western films, Sci-Fi action flicks, historical adaptations, and more in this week's On Blu-ray This Week feature.

It's rather interesting to note that Sony seems to be picking up a lot of recently released titles to add to its library of Blu-ray movies. Two of these include 20th Century Fox's Jumper and their own Sony-released title, The Other Boleyn Girl.

Taken from the same vein of many Sci-Fi movies, Jumper tells the story of David Rice (Hayden Christensen) who finds out he has the power to teleport anywhere in the world. Instead of using this unique power for the good of mankind, he instead abuses his ability and parties it up like it's 1999. Unfortunately, this attracts the attention of some unsavory superpowered beings out to eradicate all "jumpers".

The Other Boleyn Girl features Eric Bana as he plays the (lucky) male involved in a love triangle with the two Boleyn sisters, played by Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman. The film is based on the historical and romanticized account of 16th century aristocrat and one-time mistress of King Henry VIII of England, Mary Boleyn.

If laid back films aren't exactly your style, you'll definitely get a kick out of the graphic imagery depicted in the all-time classic action flick, Natural Born Killers. The story revolves around a more contemporary version of the classic Bonnie and Clyde film, with Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis playing the roles of the felonious husband and wife tandem.

Directed by Oliver Stone and written by Quentin Tarantino, the words "graphic violence" simply aren't enough to describe this film. Movie buffs can now enjoy the same action-packed mayhem in high definition with the Blu-ray release of this 1994 action flick.

There are several other titles included in this week's release of Blu-ray specials, so take a look at the list below and get yourselves updated:
  • Be Kind Rewind
  • Broken Trail
  • The Bucket List
  • Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire: Live at the Greek Theatre

  • Heart: Alive in Seattle
  • Jumper
  • The Missing
  • National Geographic: Sea Monsters

» Natural Born Killers!!!!

That's a classic. It's wild. But not that violent. About as violent as your average Yakuza movie.

Natural Born Killers has "classic Tarantino" written all over it. But I kinda like Kill Bill better tho - maybe mostly because it has Uma Thurman. LOL! Man, she rocks! ^_^
