NVIDIA's proudly announced that the GeForce 9600 GT, the 9 series successor of the 8600 GTS, will be touted as the first product of the long awaited 9 series. The video graphics card boasts full DirectX 10 support with a performance gain of almost double than its earlier cousin on some games and will come as the 9 series' first bang for the buck card.
The 9600 GT touts a tag team of 64-bit streaming shading processors clocking in at 1625 MHz and a G94-spec core clock of 650 MHz. It comes supported by a 256-bit memory interface running at 900 MHz base clock (1800 MHz) for the provided 512 MB of DDR3 memory. And if you're planning to buy two for a change, the 9600 GT's PCIe version 2.0 support will ensure bleeding edge SLI performance on your SLI-enabled, PCIe version 2.0 board.
NVIDIA's announcement over press wire hints that the card will be available at a price equal to or lower than EUR 250 (US$ 370.35). Further investigation of available models in the market shows that some are already offered at prices lower than US$ 200. In the UK, overclocked editions popped up at US$ 300 per piece - inclusive of tax.
