you are still getting the full pontential of of your x38.
getting the 780i chipset is not really worst part, the hard part is buying everything to compliment it.
a QX9650
4gb DDR3 best corsair rams
3 geforce 8800 ultra's (or 3 geforce 7950gx2, called sex-sli)
and a power supply that can handle these power su-ckers around 2000-2500 watts

I guess I thought wrong. I'm not sure if I want triple SLI'd cards, since double sounds pretty sweet enough for me. Just wish I had nVidia throughout, though. Uniformity to run nTune. I already have the 8800u's, but X38's all about CrossFire. Hehe.
As for the QX6950, that's another story. I just got a QX6850 some two months ago and it bore a hole through my bank. I bankrupt, literally. But I guess I wouldn't need the *950 yet, until that 45 nano itch becomes unbearable.
