Not so fast: Target to still carry HD-DVDs reports Major Nelson |
Ó
News in the recent days that Sony's Blu-ray format has secured an exclusive deal with giant retailer target may prove to be half true according to a recent post by Major Nelson, who was able to have a few words with the HD-DVD people in the Comic-Con."It turns out that the Target 'exclusive' for Blu Ray is *not* an exclusive," says Major Nelson. "Sony bought some end aisle placement (normal in retail) and just called it exclusive. Target WILL continue to carry HD DVD products. I am told to expect a comment from Target next week."
Looks like there's no reason for HD-DVD supporters to panic just yet. In any case, the truth should come out in a week or so. We'll update you as official announcements are made so keep it right here.

does it really matter about 90% of film makers or wat ever there called release their films on blu ray and most of them r blu ray exclusives. if you have a hd-dvd player you have a limit of what good films you can watch in hd. .oh yer first post : )
Jesus this format just needs to go away...
Someone just needs to take this out back and put one right between the eyes. I can't believe anyone else supports this format. Universal just give it up.
Its frightening at the amount of crazed ranting on that post (at the linked site). Xbots do seem to like to screech about anything when trying to make negative comments about anything Sony/PS3/Bluray related...
You still can't get Universal movies on blu ray, biznich.
Congratulations on first post, you get dumbass of the year award.
I hate to use the phrase "I told you so", but I told you so in the other threat about this.
It really doesn't matter to me which one wins though because I have the HD DVD add-on for my 360 and I have a PS3. So I get the best of both worlds. I do however see Blu-ray coming out on top in the end. It's a shame though. From all the movies that I've compared, HD DVD looks better than Blu-ray to me (and to several others too).
The original article never said otherwise. This is non-news.
This format war needs to end. I want some high def movies now dammit! But I'm not going to blow my cash on an extinct player!
Universal has a contract with Toshiba till 2008 you idiot.
and idiot. First off like i said b4 the last article didn't say it was not going to have t, It just wasn't going to have standalone HD-DVD drives. Wow people don't read, and its funny how desperate xbox fanboys are.
did he say al the companies no he said about 90% of them you idiots
I'm a fanboy? How is that? I have BOTH a 360 and a PS3. Your the idiot.
he did say he has both
HD-DVD was a waste of time. It's time to bury it.
were just going to get the last of the money of hddvd fans thats it
Why dont all you people go and use your time to help charities or something, going on about MS or Sony you people are so boring, One fact is true take away the PS3 Blu Ray and the HDdvd player outsells the independent Blu Ray one, so who gives a ***** anyway. God you know that neither format is going far at the moment DVD9 is kicking their ass so get a life.
HDDVD is selling well, why should it bother you anyway if you dont have one?.
so you aint' got a life too so stop talking shi t
