Xbox 360 drive - Image 1We reported earlier that Microsoft will release an enhanced version of the Xbox 360's HD-DVD drive. However, Microsoft recently commented that the news of a new HD-DVD was just a misquote, and denies producing such a peripheral.

Also contrary to what was reported in the earlier article, a Microsoft spokesperson also denied any plans of integrating HD-DVD drives into PCs in the future.

Despite Microsoft's denial, two separate sources can confirm with each other of what Mark Bennett said during the demonstration. Meanwhile, another journalist in the event was heard to have been able to actually record Bennett's very own words.

Will this turn out to be just one of those rumors that are denied at first then get "unveiled" eventually? Do check this space to find out.

they already have blu-ray drives for PCs.... ha ha HD-DVD si so behind the times.

honestly, i don't know why people would even bother with it, if it has less than half the space, what's the point of it even being considered HD?

it looks like they putting themselves in a deeper hole. If they don't do something Blu-ray will win.

I don't think M$ really care's much for HD DVD, even if they did its pretty much too late as it is. I think M$ is more interested in investing their money into online HD content than optical disc tech.
