New BD-Live features coming with Blu-ray movie rereleases |

For those of us who want a bit more interactivity and extra features to our Blu-ray movies, then good news: it seems that movies released this past year will be re-released on Blu-ray, with BD-live features layered heavily on top. That's right - this means an entirely new suite of interactive pictures, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
This comes directly from Fox, where they confirmed that Alien Vs. Predator will in fact be re-released with BD-Live additions, one of the more exciting ones being a multiplayer game that you play as the movie goes on. Imagine - you'll be killing other players as you watch the xenomorphs and the predators duke it out in the movie. Not only do you get to upload your own game avatar as well, but the game itself will stay in memory and reappear when you buy future AVP titles. Greatest idea of movie interaction ever, or greatest idea of movie interaction - EVER?
While this in itself sounds awesome, there's some bad news to go along with the good, mainly for those of us who bought Blu-ray movies before BD-Live came along: Sony says that it's not particularly sure if they're going to re-release every movie. And then, there's the deal about other studios seeing interactivity as more of a freebie rather than something you pay for, so they probably won't include something as good as the interactivity to be offered with Alien Vs. Predator.
There's reason to be optimistic, however, as Sony itself has also announced that they'll be looking to make sure that everyone gets a piece of the BD-Live pie, even if your Blu-ray title was bought pre-BD-Live. In any case, updates as we get them, and more info at the via link below.
