With Blu-ray emerging as the winner of the format war against HD-DVD, Sony is picking up the pace in marketing the PlayStation 3 as more than a next-gen gaming console. Half of the six new Sony PS3 starter packs have replaced top-notch games and additional controllers with Blu-ray movie discs.

As seen from the screenshot above (which you can click for a higher resolution), Sony dedicates the Fantasy, Adventure, and Thriller packages solely for Blu-ray with recent blockbusters Enchanted, I Am Legend, and We Own the Night.  As icing on the cake, the PS3 remote is also thrown in the package as well.

With prices ranging from US$ 452 to US$ 453, the prices for the Blu-ray PS3 packages are more affordable too. Now that more and more are committing to the Blu-ray course, Sony can never go wrong by striking while the iron is red-hot.
