Looking for a gaming chair? Looking for some good speakers? Look no further than Pyramat |
Ó
Here’s another gaming peripheral company you guys probably haven’t heard about, but you should have. This year’s E3 marked the second time I have gotten to look at Pyramat’s approach to a ‘gamer targeted’ chair, and I was impressed. For their new model, Pyramat has improved past their ‘lounger’ series of seating apparatus (I’m tempted to say ‘chair’, but I think ‘mat’ is more apt) and into the more common ‘rocker’ style of chair. What makes this chair unique is that it has a built in sound system to immerse users into their games. Moreover, the Pyramat chairs boasts connectivity with your iPod, TV and other audio outputs (yay! Finally, a chair that can transmit music! What I’ve always wanted!). All joking aside, there is a huge market for these types of multipurpose chairs that are low to the ground, easily foldable, and have features that will make normal chairs seem like archaic relics. What also sets Pyramat apart is the quality of their goods, where their chairs are made of soft and breathable material and the chairs feature substantial 3 ” Full Range ARX™ speakers and a 5.5” Powersub™ Subwoofer.
I can’t remember which type of rocker I tried out exactly, but it was definitely comfortable, and easily adjustable. I slid into the wonderfully comfy seat as we played a few round of Halo 2. From the get-go, the speakers were a new and invited experience while the Subwoofer provided great bass and vibration. Players can control the volume on the right side of their chair to whatever suits them and just sit back and relax. While I don’t have a particular ‘gaming chair’ at the moment, my short playtime with the Pyramat rocker may have convinced me to get one, as it does make quite a difference. I’m not going to use the tired cliché that “once you play with the Pyramat chairs, that you’ll never go back,” but any moderate-serious gamer should give one of their products a whirl.
The three versions of the rocker series of chairs are the PM 220, the S1000 (not out yet) and the S2000, while the only lounger style is the PM 550. Prices for PyramatÂ’s 3 currently available flavors of chairs range from $100 to $150, and are definitely within the price range of the moderate gamer. For more information on their products and where to buy them, visit PyramatÂ’s website here.

you know they should at lest put arm rest...so i can put my beer there lol
why spend money on ***** like that? does anyone really need it?
Don't buy them they smell like ****!!!! Yes smell. The comfort isn't that great but with the horrible stench it's unbearable
Oddly enough #3 is right, they stink like a rotting corpse.
lmao dude i love it lmao
This is either
A) an advertisement
OR
B) a stupid article written by a blogger to get his jump-count, and therefore commission, up.
These chairs are great great chairs i got them for my b-day, and yes they stink like my grandmother too X)....Don't buy them!
I didn't know there were products out there like this. Thanks for letting us know. (I don't think it was a stupid article.)
How exactley are you supposed to sit on this? Theres no stand and I wouldn't want it to be on the ground and it'be be weird putting it on a current chair - legs get caguht
They sound really awesome, but after hearing about the smell... No thanks.
In all the places that sell this including Target and Wall-mart, all the ratings are 5 star. People also said that its very comftorable, and has amazing sourround sytem. I have questions because I'm planning to buy one. How is the surround system on the chair? Does it really stink? How od you sit on it? How does it connect to your Console because it says you can connect to your PSP, Xbox360, and PS3, plus other things. Please someone help me!!
Hey everyone. Thanks for the comments (both positive and negative). I didn't notice the smell of the chairs at E3 (cause there was so much going on) perhaps some Febreeze would help? Also, since so many of you seem to be reporting the same stench problem, I'd suggest telling Pyramat so they can a) fix it for their next round of chairs b) suggest a solution.
As for how the chairs can connect to all these things, they included cables that will allow you to plug your devices into the audio inputs. I also believe there is a Ipod docking station. Although I haven't watched it, perhaps the demo movie(on Pyramat's site) would demostrate how it connects to devices?
Thanks this helps alot. From a scale of one to ten, what would you rate the comfort of the chair, and the surround sound? I'm imagining what would be like to play MGS4 with the surround sytem.
Hmm, a scale of 1-10 is kinda tough. I really love these type of rockers (btw, you set them on the floor, and they are very comfy to sit in. Balance is not a problem). Also, I thought the surround sound was awesome, but there was a lot of stuff going on at E3, so it was tough to judge it accurately. I'd suggest reading the reviews of it from the ppl who bought it.
Pyramat has promised to send us some review chairs, so be sure to check that review for a very detailed look at the pros and cons of these chairs.
In the end would you recemmond buying the chair? Which is better, the rocker or the mat?
Hmm, I personally prefer the rocker, but I don't know about this seemingly chronic 'bad smell' problem. Barring that problem, I'd surely recommend their products.
When we get a unit to review, I'll let you know if it's a good purchase or not.
