Wow it glows

A blogger named "SHH" has a post on his aptly-named blog "nooneswatchingyou right now", describing his take on the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset. He had this to say about it:

The headset came with a charger and another piece for the ear, the quality is excellent its louder and it connect to the xbox directly through the wireless i thought the wireless part would be connected to teh controller but it connects just like an xbox remote. The ear piece is flexible and kinda annoying if you don't get it on right they are interchangeable and probably will have different ones in the future.none the less it's great i don't know if it was worth 60 bucks, maybe 49.99 You can also see the battery meter on the xbox guide pretty cool...

For what the Headset has to offer, we think the price is reasonable. It isn't a bargain (far from it), but you get what you pay for. Nothing big and spectacular, no parting of the Red Sea or whatever. Just a decent deal given that the thing comes with a charger.

So what do you guys think? Is the 60 buck price-tag of this thing worth it? The guys from Penny-Arcade already have their take on it; needless to say, it was comedic. But that's their view, what do you, the QJ readers, feel? Is the 60 bucks worth the louder, and glowy wireless headset?

» Looks cool...

I like the look of this thing. Might see about getting one when it makes its way to the UK!

How do you control the volume though if it has no connector in the control pad?

I find the mute switch great for when I sneeze or cough!!

» Bump...

What a bump, seriously $60 for that? MS are taking the piss, they did the same with the WiFi adapter too (thankfully, eBay sorted me out with that at less then half price :P)

I got mine it's great, light weight. And yes it has a volume, power buttom and a mute button. it takes about 4 hours for a full charge. But the battery last 8 hours use. You know what they say you get what you paid for, and this little guy is worth every penny.

Cat Mac Daddy - are the buttons on the headset?

» about the earset

Yes the buttons are on the outside of the earset so all you have to do is reach up like your touching your ear. And the mute is the silver button which is also on the outside. when you mute it you will hear two beeps when you rehit the mute button the beeps go away. And yes the sound is great. you can also use it without the controller. if you just want to chat. That's right the earset does not connect to the controller it connects to the 360 it's self. I know some of you are think what? but you have to see it for yourself and then you'd go okay I get it. Plus it has a power meter just like the controller does. It shows up on XBOX guide.

» Love it

I think it is easily worth 60 bucks if your the type of person that already walks around carrying the controler to the bathroom or to the fridge. Some people dont even use headsets while they game so for them its pointless.. Basicly I love it and its worth it to me, so make a good judgement if you need it or not, then you'll know if its worth it or not.

The problem with this headset is the limited range. Microsoft claims it has a 30 ft range, and I say "bulls*#t". If a wall or whatever is between you and your 360 you won't get a signal at 5-10 ft. I will have a signal with my controller on the second floor of my house with the 360 in the basement. I lose the signal with the headset by time I hit the landing of the 1st floor.

Although, it may be possible mine is defective.

» not a good idea

phalanax 13, please be kidding me about your complaint. You headset isnt defective it doesnt reach down stairs. Im suprised that your controller does. signal like that is usually flat. Quit complaining.

my controller, i can take up 2 flighs of stairs and control an xbox down in the basment.. that is 2 stories up, 1 wall and 2 floors and it still works just as if i was in the room... so i'm assuming the headset will be somewhat similar

» I got it..

I have one and I am loving it! It is great having a wireless headset so you can walk around, and it is way more comfortable than the original headset...
