HDfury: No HDCP HDMI? No worry!!! - Image 1What's this we have here? Another blot-on wonder boy looking to get smo-- (waitaminute... this isn't Most Wanted...)... Well, this is another bolt-on wonder boy we found being marketed: the HDFury Permanent HDCP Modification Kit.

Short version: this adapter screws on to the SUB-D HD15 input port of an RBG display - PC monitors, HDTVs, plasma or projectors - turns that display into an HDCP-compliant display. Name it: PS3, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, whenever Microsoft ever gets around to confirming the HDMI Xbox 360 (which is why we're putting it in the 360 site), if you ever get an HDMI-enabled PC graphics card, that sort of thing.

The manufacturers of HDfury claim it's all legal conversion, fully compliant with all HDCP rules, plug-and-play, and will deliver high quality RGB-output video from an HDCP HDMI source. As it bolts on to the display set it also requires no external power source. Suddenly, the issue of HDMI-less HD sets for the PS3 may no longer be an issue, if this thing works as advertised. Now, the only thing missing is an HDMI cable... The link below takes you to the product website.

You know, if this works, this ain't just no bolt-on wonder boy looking to get smoked. This is the smoke.

Question

My LCD is HDCP complaint but it has no HDMI Port.

Does this enable me to now play 360 via HDMI (when it releases)

or could i have already done this thru DVI port?

Good for Video, but what about audio?

Only problem with this is that it solves the video issue, but not the high-quality audio problem. I happen to have a HDCP compliant LCD monitor, but have been using component cables to get me 1080i video with stereo audio. If I use this thing, I'll probably get the 1080p, but what would I do about audio?

I don't really care about the high-quality audio that much, I'm happy with my 2.1 stereo system anyway. If I can get the audio from the component cables and use that in combination with this device, then I might check it out if the price is right. Does anyone know if this would be possible?

Thanks in advance.

I call shenanigans.

I believe it to convert a hdmi signal to vga but i dont think it solves the hdcp problem. if you read the website it states that you need a hdcp stripper if your display is not hdcp compatible. this means that my hdtv that has vga and component cables has absolutely no need for this device as the hdcp will not be fixed unless i buy a converter to remove it. ill just stay away from the ps3 as that is the only device that will not work on my tv anyway.

right

it will have 1080p, but this wont magically turn a 720p into 1080p....thats like something turning a black and white TV into color

by - 2007-03-23 20:06:36
meh

what are talking about it says "Unlike HDCP stripper solution on the market HDfury is compliant to HDCP rules it does not allow and end-user easy access to analog decrypted signal" meaning this stripper is unlike any other stripper. "It can be used and sold legally to transform any RGB display into a HDCP compliant display" meaning it will work on a vga only device like your tv!!!

MEh , you are wrong !!!

This product allow HD and Full HD on ANY displays that is technically able to support such resolution.

In others words, if your display can out put 1280x720 (720p) or 1900x1080(1080p) This product is for you !!

You can directly hook up a PS3, X360 HDMi, PC Graphic Card HDMi, Cable/SAT setbox HDMI

Anything HDMI with HDCP , you can get it working on a display which is not HDCP

It turns any existing display (ANALOG) into a DIGITAL display ! that's it !

No you are wrong

It solve HDCP problem
It compeltely removes the HDCP , read again !

by - 2007-03-25 14:50:06
mmm

You can just take OPTICAL OUT for AUDIO that's the BEST QUALITY YOU CAN GET !

by - 2007-04-05 12:49:28
Are you sure ?!?!?

I thought it took any display, capable of displaying a HD signal and boosting that signal to either a 720/1080P. You know kinda like a video card for the pc. If the monitor can display the resolution, the card will push it out.

RGB or YUV

Hi,

Just a question, according to the docs, this wonderfull device converts hdmi to sub 15. But, it is only VGA or it converts to Components too?

It is not very clear for me.
