Hacker cracks HD-DVD and Blu-Ray anti-piracy system? |

Muslix64 posted a video and decryption codes for copying several films ("Full Metal Jacket" and "Van Helsing"). That's just the appetizer. Muslix64 promised to post more source codes that will permit the copying of even more titles. The codes, according to the hacker, will transfer the video from the HD-DVD disc to a hard drive and can be played in any HD-DVD-compatible player.
If proven, Muslix64's technique strikes another blow to Hollywood's dream of a world where there are no such thing as pirated materials. One of the AACS companies said it was looking into Muslix64 claim.

Not to mention, do these companies seriously think they have the smartest guys in the world working for them ? I guess they may think so, but they are definately wrong....too bad most of the geniuses don't put their resources to use for a company, but more for their own hobbies/pleasures......
Silly corporate america.....you can never beat the pirates !!!!
ARRR!!!

For example there is another video announcing a bootloader for Wii in January.
I don't say all those security systems can't be cracked. But I say: Be aware of fals prophets

As much as piracy is cheap it's pretty lame to not support the industries that bring us entertainment. Call me what u like but ur all a bunch of tight asses.
Fair enough - anything on windows... couldn't care less but games and movies... sad beyond explanation.
And at this stage it's cheaper to not pirate any blu-ray (if that guy has cracked it ... unlikely) movies coz discs and burners cost a fair amount ... it'll be at least a year until it becomes economical.

Its DRM with BD+ protection. Being hacked as we speak. I find BD less user friendly while in movie then HD-DVD.

This is only for movies, and it's hard to say if the 360 or PS3 will play burnt copies....although my 360 plays burnt dvd iso's without any firmware trickery...

thats sony's strong point right now and with ps2. They beat piracy for 2 years because of costs it took to get the pirated dvd's and now the pirated blu-ray. Blu-ray discs cost consumers 20-32$ per disc, while it costs them 20cents to make a disc. Major profits because they know few people actually own writeable blu-ray drives, so they try to sell these discs to pioneers which always have money....they're like audiophiles.

Perhaps We are Not Mere Puppets....and Maybe we Can Make A Difference.....Those People Truly Prove it
It is Uncofirmed....but it is Inevitable
This wont truly Hurt Blu-ray in the Competetion....as it concerns Both Formats.....and it wont Hurt the PS3 Much..Since the PS2 had more Piracy than you Imagine
It will still be more secure than DVD,s atleast in the coming 3 years..
Those People....i truly respect them :)

The truth be told I really don't like the idea of blu-ray technology. Yes it may hold more 5 times the amount of a normal DVD but really, what kind of movies going to go over 4 hours, also, what game is going to take up that much space when some of the greatest titles ever made were only around 5mb, what idiot would need that much room on a single bloody disc? It's idiocy when you think about it.
I'll finish this post with a quote from a review of Blu-Ray technology by Patrick Di Justo:
WHAT TO MAKE OF IT
All dressed up, nowhere to go. Thanks for nothing.
Sure, burn 100 copies of your wedding video. But no watching stolen goods.
It can adjust my firmware? Are you nuts? Back to BitTorrent!
