Currently, the broadcast industry makes use of videotapes in capturing moments that will later entertain and inform us on TV. However, these videotapes are rarely reusable, and if they are they usually result in a degradation of picture quality. It's also not a rarity for videotapes to cause a delay in the broadcasting world due to its inability to be downloaded directly into a computer for editing - its contents need to be captured in real-time before it can be digitally edited (and this requires a lot of time and extra equipment to be achieved). All these hassles are about to be wiped out as SanDisk incorporates its flash memory CompactFlash cards into the new Grass Valley Infinity Series Digital Media Camcorder.
The latest Grass Valley camcorder includes two slots for CompactFlash cards and is the first broadcast camcorder that uses non-proprietary, removable, solid-state flash memory cards for recording and playback of media. "The latest and most advanced line of SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash cards offer an ideal combination of industry-leading performance and capacity that enables these new [Grass Valley] camcorders to perform to their maximum capabilities," says Grass Valley President Marc Valentin.
Grass Valley's ucoming camcorders are sure to maximize the SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash card, which now reaches up to 8 GB in capacity (and is sure to have higher capacities in the future) while also boasting of minimum write and read speeds of 20 MB/second - promising a truly fast-paced broadcasting industry.
