Cellphone provided Xbox 360 with Internet connection |
Ó
What would you do if your place doesn't have an internet connection? No internet for your PC or even for your Xbox 360. No Xbox Live. Well this guy went to great lengths to get his fix of the world wide web: he used his phone to give both his PC and Xbox 360 a connection.
Being in a place with no internet connection himself he really wanted to find a way to remedy that. So he bought a Samsung i607 Blackjack to experiment with. He chose the phone because it was 3G capable and had Windows Mobile, which was an integral part of the experiment.
He then connected the Blackjack to this PC and used the Internet Connection Sharing feature to well... share the Internet connection with the PC, which worked. Not through with the idea yet though, he then proceeded to find a way to give his Xbox an Internet connection.
Following the same principle he then connected the PC (which still shared an Internet connection with the Blackjack) to the Xbox 360 and changed some network settings on both systems. It not only worked but he also hosted a Halo 3 LAN party, with 10 Xbox 360s connected to his cellphone.
Cool ain't it. Now if only the iPhone could do that.

this is really kewl except u have to pay for 3G but it's better in the end he get internet 4 his fone computer & 360
FIX THE SITE!! anyhoo i did this with both my ps3 and 360. i actually jacked the neighbors wifi and played for about a month then i got greedy and started downloading huge files so they finally encrypted the signal. then i got fios :)
oh well, so this guy is cool! I think it's stupid. A simple wireless usb adapter for the PC would do the trick if there was a wireless device in the area. Most people still do not encrypt their wireless as they do not know how to configure their PC's with it. As for the i-phone if it can access the internet then it can be configured to do the same, but why would someone want to pay such high cost??? The word "Folly" comes to mind. High end expensive gadgets to do a simple task.
pretty standard use of common technology nowadays. a single wireless router or w-wan can provide internet to around 40 net capable devices if configured correctly. i remember the old days when i share my lousy 56k dial up with 3 of my other friends and have a lag infested game in diablo2, ragnarok online or red alert yuri's revenge.
