BMW Hydrogen 7 passes NASA's tests |
Listed in: Tags: BMW, gaming accessories, Hydrogen, NASA, prototypes
Ó
BMW sent prototypes of its revolutionary new Hydrogen 7 cars to NASA for testing and the clean, mean and green vehicles came out with flying colors after being graded for their efficiency. The Hydrogen 7 is based on the design of the BMW 760Li and carries a dual combustion engine which can use either gasoline or fuel hydrogen. What's more, it can switch seamlessly between the two and deliver the same results each time.
It's strong V12 engine delivers 260hp, a top speed of 143 miles an hour and accelerates from 0 to 60 miles in 9.2 seconds. The high performance comes with the distinctive BMW look and ease of handling that luxury drivers look for.
The best part about the BMW Hydrogen 7 is its contribution to the prevention of climate change. When running on hydrogen, its emissions are essentially as harmless as water vapor.

You DO realize that WATER VAPOR is a GREENHOUSE GAS "supposedly" causing CLIMATE CHANGE, right?
"There are other ways of obtaining Hydrogen other than splitting it from water. If I can remember right last year in Science we made hydrogen and tested for it via. the pop test. No atomic splitting as needed :)"
There are, you can cool and compress air into its constituent parts by liquefying it etc. However, if your pop test involved a large container of water and two tubes coming from it and an electrical charge, you split water into its constituent parts - which is one of the more popular methods of obtaining hydrogen. The poster was correct, the procurement of hydrogen is too expensive at this time for it to be considered a viable fuel source.
This is nothing more than a toy for the wealthy to feel good about themselves for not polluting when they're away from their giant mansions that use up the equivalent of 20+ average households worth of electricity on a yearly basis.

Did anybody notice the 12 CYLINDER ENGINE in the description? I'm sure that's fuel efficient.
No, this is not the end of my sarcasm.

You are retards for thinking you know more than scientists...
You are retards for not knowing anything...

never in the history of man was scientific discovery and science itself decided by a majority vote - either a scientist could prove that his invention/idea worked by having other scientists recreate it, or it was thrown away
for example, the scientists in the 70s warmed about global cooling and a new ice age
oh yeah, NASA just recalculated its heat ratings - 4 of the hottest days since the calculations began were in the 1930s

Oh, and try get the reaction the right way round. It doesnt split water into hydrogen, the end product of the reaction is water.

and that thing he did in science wasn't electrolysis it was a chemical reaction by the sounds of it, it's impractical for large scale creation.
renewable energies is the way, but still it's better for the environment that petrol.
the main reason it's not done yet is money!!! petrol companies like their profits and it'll cost a lot to setup hydrogen infrastructure in large safe volumes.
who knows what technologies will come there's many better options than petroleum which will be replaced by them one day.
the car is good, it gives you the choice to use the better alternative at the time.

As for hydrogen last I heard I could get it cheaper than petrol, it's getting the quantity required that's hard.
as for 12 cyclinders being fuel efficient it depends on how it's made, I assume it's fuel efficient because they say so. the number of cylinders alone isn't at all close to enough information to make a judgment on the matter. I think you'll find they'll smaller than the average cylinder, I've got know idea they didn't say how many litres it was which would be a better indication.

Why do people keep clutching at stupid straws, I still say factories are the biggest cause on the problem yet people can only focus on cars.
Bottom line is the earth can only support so much of anything, it's about time we get into space exploration
