"Ubisoft Montreal revealed its next incredible project, Assassins: Creed, exclusively for PlayStation 3 at E3 this year, much to the delight of Sony console fans and to the dismay of Microsoft consoles fans. Ubisoft officially would not comment on a possible Xbox 360 version.
According to sources close to the company, however, there are potential plans for an Xbox 360 version at Assassins: Creed sometime in 2007. Additionally, Microsoft sources who asked not to be mentioned by name, claimed the demo, hidden behind closed doors at E3, was running on an Xbox 360 using a third-party USB PlayStation controller. The game system was hidden in a stand covered by a sheet. Again, Ubisoft officials would not comment."
Theinquirer also claim that Gran Turismo HD was being run on a PC, not a PS3:
"Look closely at that title, it is object rich, interactive, happy and pretty, everything you would expect from a next gen title on a next gen console.
Has Wii seen the marquee launch title? Has Wii found the dev team that managed to crack the cell coding puzzle? Found the next Jeff Minter? What did the Gran Turismo team do? What did Sony do?
Well, the version of Gran Turismo, ostensibly running on a PS3, is really running on a PC. Is Sony trying to tell us that a PC is a better gaming platform than the upcoming $600 beastie, or is it the other way around?
Either way, this would be very embarrassing for them if it got out, so make sure not to tell anyone."
These are only rumours, but considering the setbacks that Sony have made recently with the PS3's release date, there is a possibility that both of these rumours could be true. What do you think?

Even if everybody knows that GTHD is really GT4x12 = 1080p, that was enough to put the rumours machine (BlackOPs) to work because
x360 is no capable to do the same.
Additionally, is expected that Assassins Creed becomes a major title and is not comming to x360 anytime soon, why? I dont know but some people is telling that x360 is not powerful enough.
Its not rumor at all that the 360 is much easier to develop for. Ive read multiple interviews with devs saying the cell is very complex to code for. I even read a article with John Carmack (Lead design ad ID) he said both systems are excellent but that the 360 is more streamlined and the tool set is LEAPS beyond that of what sony offers to devolpment teams, he also stated that the power of the ps3 was slightly more powerful then a 360. Noone on this board is claiming they saw a 360 (atleast not yet) IGN says the hardware they used was actually a 360.
The demos are a representation of what we may expect to see in November and beyond and thats all we should worry about. (and even then we shouldn't be compeltly judging as they are in-development games)
The very best time of all to pick apart the PS3 is when it arrives in a store and someone actually has it right in front of them playing a real game off their blu-ray disc.
So until then lets not judge this system simply on 'whether Sony copied Nintendo or not' or 'whether the demos were running off hamsters' or whatever.

Makes tons of sense. #4 go look at some statistics of console sales and game sales for PS2 compared to Xbox and 360 and think about what you just posted. Who makes up these rumors anyway and why? Where's the proof? If this game is PS3 exclusive why the hell would it be running on 360? Some one will probably say that whole "well 360 is so easy to program for and PS3 is not." Yah I've heard that one plenty of times.I've read numerous interviews with developers that PS3 is way easier than PS2 wich was supposedly a pain. PS3 is going to be powerful. If they hype it soo much then it turns out to be nothing much, then their doomed. They would not show awesome demos when there is such a huge difference. especiialy when so much is riding on its success.

This is really the worst posting I have ever seen from QJ. To post something like this is so unprofessional that it really shows the quality of QJ. I respected you guys before but after the recent kiddy fanboy post that have been popping up, I have lost much respect.
First of all:
This is an impossibility. Xbox uses DirectX and PS3 uses a modified OpenGL library. For Ubisoft to be running on 360s would be as dumb as running Windows Vista on a powerPC Mac before moving it to a PC. I think the fact that Assasin's creed looks like a CGI movie which leaves anything on the 360 in the dust makes MS very scared at the power of the PS3. It would take a long time to port OpenGL code over to DirectX.
To be honest I have an XBOX and I love Halo 1 and 2 but after seeing the way MS continues with this ridiculous rumors like saying that games cant run at 1080P or that the PS3 is only slightly more powerful than the 360 makes me sick to my stomach. Can’t they worry about their machines? Why do they have to result to cheap rumors? I don’t care how good Halo3 is, this has put me over the top, I will never buy another MS product again. Thank you MS you making more and more Anti-Microsoft fans. Look at Slashdot for MS hate.

Most of the PS3 trailers looked just as good if not better than the 360 launch games. I feel sorry for you and MS when the PS3 has been out awhile and developers really learn how to program for the beast!
Hey, #27. Wanna see ONE piece of real media footage? Try Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, FF XIII, Getaway, Armored Core, Metal Gear Solid 4, or LAIR. Oh, heh. Sorry, must've miscounted.
Then again, Gears of War looks great! I mean, the spewing blood that never hits the floor, crouch glitches, and low framerate on final hardware is a marvel to behold. And Too Human, good lord. Seeing enemies freeze in mid-animation once more than 5 of them show up on screen reeks of next-gen 'power'. It's totally not fair to compare 1st gen 360 titles and pre-1st gen PS3 titles because Xbox developers obviously didn't have enough time. Halo 3 looked a bit better than part 2, but I was sort of hoping to see gameplay footage because you know, videos of games never turn out to be true (I mean, come on, look at Sony.)

did you ever listen to sony about the ps2..and the emotion engine the rumors..lies and bs..it didnt look even close to the tech demos they had lol....we can talk about the psp...promised no forced firmware upgrades...touted this and that i beleive the hype and bs and guess what wasted 250 i sold mine and got a ds not cause a ds is better but the game selection was better and i had more fun with it the psp has 90% strait ports of what i played on the ps2....now lets talk about rumors and bull***** they all do it....its why its called a rumor..did you miss highschool? lol cause thats what it was one big building of rumors lol

I have a 360 and let me tell you its great. Ive been loving since i got it on launch. Ive awaited PS3 since they announced and im still siked.
Yet i can never understand fanboys with there useless insults and there potty mouths trying to act all big. MS fanboys never give another product a chance and they same goes with sony fanboys. But i see more fanboys from MS saying how PS3 is so bad and the GFX suck. Have you ever thought its not always about the GFX but gameplay, physics, AI, and innovation. MOst the games i have seen look very different and unique. The developers on sonys side seem to be focusing on fresh new gameplay. Its not to say that MS isnt either. I see more coming from the dev. from sony though.
Also the other people that say that PS3 GFX suck and dont compare to xbox360. Thats just a bunch of bull*****. I am suprised at how pre-first gen titles are looking. They are looking equivalent to these second gen games from MS. One more thing to add on the GFX subject. You do know that almost all of those games seen are only 15-30% complete except heavenly sword and reisistance and they both look great. And one more thing they where never running on final dev kits which can make a world of a difference. They just got them days before E3.
Also for all the people that believe ign you should have a sticker on your forehead that says gullible. IGN has been known to post bull ***** articles. Also if none have you have noticed IGN seems to sway towards MS alot. They say they are not a biased website but they are.

playable demos for the ps3? where? all i saw was a sony exec tilt a controller around and a few really quick and flashy battle sequences, and ff 13 lemme not start on how that was all fmv with some quickie menus thrown in where the quality suddenly dropped in the video. for now im happy with my 360, when i have a ps3 in my hands with great graphics THEN i will also add the ps3 to my list of great consoles. till then i go with what i see not with what i see on a screen at a show.
There where many playable demos. Resistance, Heavenly sword, gundam, motorstorm. Im not sure what else. Also to #54 ign is the most biased website in the entire planet. Gamespot is not biased what so ever. I remember last year IGN had some bull***** article up and everyone had to believe it since it was on IGN. IGN always finds the right time to post bull*****.

So its easy to develop for because thats what they are currently using anyways. Anything new will take time to learn and harder to use. But in the end once games are out and the developers get a feel for how to code for the PS3 they will be able to develop for both with no difference in difficulty.
You all say that devs say its harder but you all know nothing about how to code at all. Would a HTML coder whos been coing for years say its easy to make web sites in HTML? Yes. Would that same HTML coder who has to start using PHP and CGI scripts say that PHP and CGI are easy to code with? No they wouldnt.
But ask them a few months later after getting familair with the new code and they will say its easy once again to do their job.
One thing i notice is everyone who is complaining about the price cant afford the price. You may not want to play games in 1080p or have the latest and greatest in one box. But there are plenty of high paying customers to fill your space.
600 bucks is cheap these days. If your not making enough to spend 600 bucks then your either, too young to waste time playing games, too uneducated to get a better paying job, or you just dont know how to manage your money.

To #66. When Sony sat down to design the Dual Shock Controller in 1993-1994 all of those ideas were thrown around. Some of them were to expensive to put into the consumer product. Guide or "home" buttons are always features of devices of this nature that handle media. TIVO, many digital cable or satelite tuning boxes, and so on have guide buttons.
Come on, do you really thing motion sensing technology is new. For example the helmet to *****pit instrument motion sensing in the AH-64 Apache. That stuff was developed in the late 70's.
The Wii's (Revolution's) technology works exactly the same as the avionics in the Apache. (Just as an example).
Sure, GT might be little more than GT4 at a higher resolution, but can you tell me what 360 game so far has really proven to be 'next-gen'? I have a 360, and while I enjoy it thoroughly, few if any games for it are really that much more impressive than the last generation (graphics aside). The only expcetions I would say are GRAW and Condemned, even BF2 is a port (I love it, but it's nothing really next-gen).

And they copied it from every other home electronics device. The PSP had the home button that did the same thing. So Sony had it first.
The shoulder buttons - 360
They stole this from Sony. the original Dual shock had preassure sensitive shoulder buttons so in fact sony was the first mainstream company to incorporate buttons that are dynamic to how much preassure you apply. All MS did was change it from preassure sensitive to an analog button.
The motion sensors - Wii
Uh, huh, They might have only added the idea after Nintendo did but its microsoft scratching their heads asking themselvfes why didnt they do this too.
The player lights ID - 360 + Wii
Im sorry but wireless devices have been doing this for years. You obviously have never seen the logitech and other companies lines of wireless controllers.

They stole this from Sony. the original Dual shock had preassure sensitive shoulder buttons so in fact sony was the first mainstream company to incorporate buttons that are dynamic to how much preassure you apply. All MS did was change it from preassure sensitive to an analog button.

How *****ing stupid do you have to be to think that a game being developed for a certain console is being played on another...When Assassin's Creed was called "Project Assassin" in 2005, it was being developed for PS3 and the 360 but they decided the 360 was too weak, because it is.

As for whether they could run a ps3 game on a PC, ofcourse they could it just takes some time to tune for the different CPU. Cell isnt a 7core cpu btw its i believe 1-2 cores with 7 spus(i think it works similar to cores but not the same thing) out of the 7 only 6 are in the PS3 cell, 1 of which is dedicated for the linux OS. I have a good feeling that the game isnt being devloped exclusively for ps3 they would cut out a HUGE player base doing that. Not only that its mainly the team that worked on the prince of persia series which as well all know went to ALL systems including the ps2 which is by far weaker then the xbox. Actually the difference between the xbox1 and ps2 is a much larger gap in terms of real power then the 360 and ps3. Im also curious as to how the cheaper ps3 will play true HD games/movies without HDMI probably a update to HDCP will make it so component cables with be able to display the image anyway. Lastly one thing ive been thinkin bout is if i do buy a ps3 and blu-ray bites the dust in terms of movies wheres the benefit of spending that extra 100-200 dollars? whether or not BD will work out is up in the air i dont think its looking good. Just by following sonys track record as far as storage mediums go its not looking to hot, now i know people will retort saying that sony has much more of a folowing in terms of production companies supporting BD which is really not true both hd-dvd and BD have support of all major film companies with the exception of Universal which is supporting HD-DVD and MGM (owned partially by sony) which is supporting BD. So i recommend people not be stupid and buy a ps3 or a 360 and wait for the mediums wars to blow over then decide.

The great thing about Xbox 360 is you dont have to buy the HDDVD upgrade if you dont want it. I personally wont be buying the upgrade because regular movies are perfectly fine for my needs.

My math isnt flawed at all. You will eventually buy an HD-DVD add on because the times are changing. Soon the new formats like blu ray and HD-DVD will be the standard. Soon most people will have an HDTV. See i have an HDTV that supports 1080p. So i will want the blu ray player. Also the PS3 still has a 40g advantage over the 360s HDD. You would have to buy two more 20g hard drives to have as much space than the PS3 HDD. Which thats another $200. I bet if sony did what MS did people wouldnt be complaining as much. But they see this big price but you ebd up saving in the end.

i don't have to buy anything! - you do realize even though dvd became mainstream, VHS is still produced!..
i want a blu-ray or hd dvd i could care less, but i'll wait, and get either when they are cheaper.. like who knows the add-on could creep down to like 50-75 at one point in time... and 20gb for my 360 is enough, in due time if there is a reason for me to need more space, i'm sure i can make due and get something new... rather than handing a product to you and saying ok, you are set... microsoft will cater to their cutomers. yeah it might have to buy something, but luckily microsoft can spread out fixed costs easily.
If blue ray ends up loosing the format wars then the PS3 bluray fuctionality would be useless but if it ends up being the winning format everyone would be forced to get a blu ray player and from the looks of it, it might (most movie studios support it over HD DVD). HD DVD for X360 is an afterthought, a way for MS to try and stick it to sony and it's new format, even when the HD DVD might not work.
But back to the rumors, The wiimote was actually a PS3 controller posing as a wiimote, the X360 is actually a dreamcast with more RAM the PS3 is a 360 made by Nintendo and fanboys are going to end by tomorrow ¬_¬ don't be so gullible just because you already spent your money on a console that is not making too many great games, it's ok to be angry.
Sony said the one in PS3 will actually be better than the ones sold in stores because of cell and RSX helping it. Also have fun buying a stand alone blu ray or HD-DVD player since there $1500. About the 20 GB hard drive that the 360 has... I was just flicking through a mag last week and i saw an article that said that MS are thinking about making a 100GB hard drive... I'm not saying they are... i just read it ;)
