Well, haven't we all been waiting for this bit of news? We just reported some time back that the HD-DVD Player for the 360 will be shown at E3. There's a heck of a lot more that you might be looking at actually. Some guy, reported to work at Microsoft, has released this unconfirmed info at a Spanish Forum. Luckily for us, 'HardKnock' at Beyond3D forums has translated it for us non-spanish folks.You'd be naive to believe all of it. But, even if half of these things are true, you'd be looking at Microsoft to walk all over Sony at E3.
- Xbox 360 Premium Pack price is going to drop $100 in October.
- Xbox 360 Core Pack price is going to drop $80 in October
- Gears of War is going to be released the last week of October with an huge marketing campaign at global scale.
- HD-DVD for the next month of September. Add-on that you can connect to the USB 2.0 port. It is going to be priced for $100
- New HardDisk Drive with 100GB of storage, price and date not specified.
- Webcam "My Eye on you", for the month of September with a price of $50 without game and $75 with a game.
- Xbox Backward compatibility list is going to be updated in June with 50 new titles
- The capacity of the Xbox Live Servers is going to be 5 times more than the actual servers
- Halo 3 is going to be in the market the next month of March, in E3 we are going to see the first videos.
- Possibility of an "urban game" that could be GTA. Microsoft is working on it and this isn´t a joke.
- A possible price drop in Xbox Live Gold or it is going to be free because they are going to get money with promotional advices.
- From the next month of October we are going to change some records in some games for "MSpoints".
- Paramount Pictures and Microsoft has anounced an agreement where Paramount is going to provide HD content to Xbox Live.
- NBC has signed with Microsoft for the possibility of see the online tournaments like an sports live retransmisión.
- Aliance between Epic and Microsoft for exclusive content in Xbox Live.
- Creation of a Dashboard for kids.
- A new service in june: Download and play.
- Rare is working in Kameo 2 since before the release of Kameo. Is going to come before than expected.
- MS is working for an upgraded friend list (until 200 contacts)
- Virtual Console with Sega games before the next month of October
- An spectacular upgrade in the number of Xbox Live Arcade games in the next months.

Releasing another Harddisk is just... stupid... Instead of launching with a mere 20GB HDD - think ahead and release something bigger ... oh wait... they want to juice our money.
I'm looking forward to the Live announcement if there is any... a cheaper service is promising - free, unlikely but that would be awesome.
And i HOPE M$ Employs Sony's E-Distribution concept so we can buy games online and just download them... that would be awesome.

Microsoft is the leading OS selling in the world right now...there is no competition...and for them to lose a next gen war or "FAIL" LIke you fanboys say WILL NEVER HAPPEN...Microsoft not only aim at non-gamers but even movie watchers..WOOWZERZ!!..the UMD's for sony aint doing too good...UNIVERSAL bye..who's next..LOL paramount...!!!...sony did a big mistake with promising too much..microsoft never gave mix messages and fake screenshots of games...sony did bad decision making BLU-RAY?? that will probaby send hackers packing their hardware..blu-ray will cost and arm and a leg and they will end up only discontinuing Playstation that way they dont f**K up what they have left.. and also anyone remember the last format that they made....the MiniDisc.

$300 for Premium, or $220 for the Core seems a little unrealistic this soon in the game, but IF it is true then M$ already has a year advantage, more games, 2nd gen games for the 360, and cheaper in price... Would be nice if it happened, but only time will tell...

I for one don't believe 80% of what's listed. It's just not realistically possible. An HD player for 100 bucks? Come on. Xbox Live Gold for free? Yeah I sure see that happening. This all sounds like a 360 fanboy wishlist to me. Sure I'd love to see all that stuff, but think with your brains that still work people. If it looks to good to be true then by god it probably is.

-I HIGHLY doubt this would happen, they might annonce that they will be making something like this and try and make it seem 100x better than eye toy, but it sure as hell wont be coming in september or they would have hyped it already seening as they are trying to get the casual gamers to play.

-LMAO no, we might see some early faked videos but it most certainly WILL NOT be out that soon. I love Halo and would love it out sooner, but its just too soon for it. If this where true it would be a peace of crap and buggy as hell, or it would be the same as Halo 2.

an HD DVD for 100 seems like hte most intelligent price point, I just hope it doesnt look gay.
If MS drops price to 300/220 in october, this probly isnt the best move. I think it is more likely that will drop the price early next year, because ps3 will be sold out for about the same time frame as the 360, if not more. Once ps3's are in stock everywhere for 500-600, then 360 seems very attractive at half the price.
With launch of the HD DVD MS can really appeal to alot of people. You could buy a core system, and HDDVD for 320 according to these speculations. I think last year at e3 MS said they want to sell 1 billion systems. Not likely, but a move like this will get them quite a few customers.
New HD is needed, but MS really screwed up by not giving a little bigger HD at launch. They should have like a "send in your hd" program, give me a $50 off coupon for a new HD.
I think the deadliest blow they could deal to sony is by cutting the price of all games. Think about it. 3rd Parties started charging 59.99 for a DVD 9, because nex gen titles require are so much more money investment than last gen. PS3 wants to have incredibly next gen content, requiring incredible investments from developers, on a system that is harder to program for. On top of that, the cost of making a BD is significantly more than a DVD9. Think about this from a software dev standpoint: You can have like $5 of manufacturing costs per game on a 360 (just an estimate, its pretty cheap to stamp a disc, instructions, and case). If you want to make the same game on PS3, im guessing your manuf. costs are going to be $10-15. Now, say you sell 100,000 games on 360, 100,000 games on PS3. The PS3 revenue will $500,000 to $1,000,000 less than on 360. If you had higher development costs on ps3, (due to difficult programming nature), combined with less sales revenue, a software company would be in quite some trouble at this point. What are your options from a business standpoint?:
Also consider the advantage MS has in installed base, combined with the huge attatch rate that 360 has. Bottom line for game devs: it is harder to be profitable on PS3, if at all. Even if sony can manufacture, ship, and sell their GOAL, of 1 million systems per month after they launch in november, a YEAR from today, that would put them at a maximum of 5-7 million systems worldwide.
So, one year in the future, sony will be about where MS is today.

Thinka bout what ms gives you for 399.99: triple core 3.2 ghz, 512 mb ram, 20 gig hd, wireless controller, headset, etc etc etc etc etc.... Considering the hd dvd add on can use all the existing stuff on 360 for image processing, scaling, sound decoding, color correction, etc.. I think the hd dvd drive nothing more than a cd tray and a laser. Should be fairly lacking in complexity considering that it piggy backs onto 360.
I for one, dont care about HD DVD right now, I am a gamer, not a moviegoer. I like my entertainment interactive. The only reason I could think to get one is to show off my nerdy-but-oh-so-awesome hdtv and 6.1 surround. most 360 games these days have better sound than movies anyways. Alot of mainstream consumers cant even tell the dif in HD and SD, I say they are stupid.

the rest. are a possilility, the price drop would make sense by microsoft and i seriously think will happen just for the sheer fact that microsoft knows it will steal them a HUGE chunck of the PS3 fanbase.
the $100 HD-DvD is a possibility and probability since it IS only the drive and not anything else. remember, on a DvD standalone player you need components and an OS to run the disc, the extention to the 360 wont require that at all.
a 100gb HDD would make sense, i do hope that it wont be included with Premium packages that would make people feel ripped off. and i DO hope that we start seeing 3rd party HDD's coming out at lower prices and at higher storage capacities.
the new dashboard for kids i can see happening, it would only turn on if the parental controlls set it for child. frankly i hope this helps in keeping the annoying brats out of my 360 games, and it probably will.
the upgraded friends list would be awesome, and make alot of sense, the whole friends list thing needs a revamp anyway, i dont care if i get 200 friends or not (it wold be nice though) a revamp is needed.
i can see some truth in these, microsoft DOES want to be competitive, and they do see sony as a threat, and they are doing what they can to make their console as appealing as they can to the consumer before the launch of the playstation 3.

I understand not every body needs all those things but if Sony can release the PS3 under 500$ or the same price as 360 with those things included I will be very pissed off. People seem to forget that sony has been in the video game buisness for a lot longer than M$ so for the people who think the PS3 will flop are in for a surprise come november. The 360 is an ok console but Ill put my money on PS3 and sony to continue to dominate,yes I said dominate, for years to come. Sony owns the gaming world and will continue to for a long time. Im not anybodys "fanboy" so dont bother with that crap I own an xbox, xbox 360, psp, and ps2 and just prefer sony over microsoft.

So, I'm asking you. Would Sony survice PS3 cost?
If Sony prices PS3 at least $499 to $699 which I expect even more (because of HD-DVD player), every console they sell will add cost to their revenue. This will really really hurt their financials and they will end up running out of cash which will limit their PS3 and other products marketing efforts. And eventually they will post loss every quarter. That will damage company big time.
Microsoft knows about this, so what they will do is give more pressure to PS3 price like lowering 360 console price while selling more accessories which will offsets that price drop. This price pressure will hurt SONY even more.
If Sony doesn't make money, they will not be able to produce enough PS3's which will effect their sales of if they produce more they will lose more.
They will be in a bad financial loop which will suck their blood. PS3 can be their death sentence.
THEY SHOULD JUST GIVE UP THIS CONSOLE MARKET.. or PRODUCE 360 CONSOLES before they end up losing the whole company. But with the stubborn and idiot CEO they have, that may not happen.

-High Christmas Sales this year with lower price, lots of great games, Xbox Live service, accessories, external HD-DVD drive (smart move).
-New and biggest music service called URGE. We will see more announcement at E3. $$$$$. Urge is huge. 10 million song library compare to 500 thousand ITunes. And they can sell this on Xbox live and Windows. It's music and video.
-Expect IPTV or HDTV streaming on xbox live.. Big money. You can watch movies on 360.
-Advertisement on games and xbox live. Big money.
-New 360 camera is like dating service. It will attract more teens so they can chat and play together. This the main driver for xbox live right now.

The vast majority of ps2 owners probly couldnt tell anything about why 40mb of ram sucks so bad, just like alot of camry drivers dont know why front wheel drive sucks. What is ram? What is front wheel huh?
Cars like a BMW, Audi, Mercedes are built for people who love cars, just like the xbox is for people who love games.
The pc market is like buying a ferrari, you want the latest and greatest high performance at any cost, yes I know that when a new game system comes out, they can have some very impressive titles, but pc's always average out to be on top.
