There's no doubt that everyone's pumped for this year's E3 in Santa Monica, and news website NZ Herald is no exception. The publication posted some things that it says just might appear. Here they are:1. Price drops for consoles
2. A handheld Xbox machine
3. The debut of PlayStation Home and a public beta announcement
4. A re-designed PSP
5. The Wii gets a hard drive
The article posted didn't elaborate on what their basis was for coming up with the speculation, but hey, we're not one to judge such things. Besides, E3 has always been known as the biggest stage to unfold surprises and we've seen things happen that range from the awesome to the downright weird, so anything goes, really.
We think the ideas posted are very interesting and the impact that these things could bring to the table will be huge. We'll be very happy to see even one of these things happen. What do you think?

A handheld xbox? Ive seen this already on IGN's predictions but gimme a damn break, who the hell would think they would release another 'system' when there last one has had the worst failure rate in the history of gaming. 100% false imo.
i really want to see a portable from microsoft. i would probably get it. as long as its more gaming oriented then media driven, mostly like the psp.

I hope it's true cause you know how microsoft has surpassed Sony's PS2 and PS3, maybe they can even surpass the psp!!!! C'mon, people! There were 4 other announcements, and you guys start the platform wars again just because a liar said that MS would have an MSPortable. What about PS3 price drops? I have always been a loyal Nintendo guy, but with a PS3 price drop, I could see myself buying one. Wii Hard Drive? Sure, I'm up for it, but how much would it cost? The rest? PSP2? Well, maybe. E307 could spell disaster for the DS Lite if PSP2 and MSPortable are released/announced here. That could be interesting. But hey. I'm just a gamer here. No preferences or loyalties anymore. I've played the Wii and 360, and PS3 looks cool (minus the price), and I'm willing to vote in any direction, although I admit a soft spot in my heart for the DS. On my current basis, you must not take the NZ Herald seriously. A lot of former employees there that worked in the technology division were anti-Nintendo fanboys. One that I know of is still working there.

XBOX 360 despite some technical problems in SOME systems, is a GREAT GAMING CONSOLE, proven if nothing else by the 100's of hours of fun I've gotten from my mates console. The PS3 is also great, as is the Wii for their own, similar reasons.
I'll gladly accept an MS handheld into the market (so long as its Vista free), and the only other new piece that actually interests me, the PS3 price drop, might push me towards the PS3 instead of XBOX 360 I was going to get.
Buy whatever you want, they're all good in some way IMO.

Microsoft has always been about being media driven. Take Windows Vista for an example. And the Xbox was pretty much media driven too.
First of all, a portable system like the PSP is nowhere near the power of a console, just because the size needed for all of the parts, unless you want to pay a pretty buck, and developers want there system to sell, even if they have to take it down a notch.

Dont all of you realize that the more handheld consoles, the closer the market comes to perfect competition and farther from becoming a monopoly... If each of the game console distributors has a handheld, the prices of the handhelds could possibly get driven down. It's simple economics. This is the same principle that lead to the price drop of the PS3. If microsoft and nintindo had no console, i guarantee that the PS3 would still be at $599 or more.

Actually, in some areas, the psp surpasses the ps2. I think it falls short on memory (ram and such), and I remember reading an article saying that the ps2 could send 2 commands per clock cycle or something like that.
I think the psp is pretty close to the power of a console.
Jesus people, don't you know about the ultra low voltage celerons? They're basically the same CPU in the Xbox, except they are low power and low heat. And they're smaller. It is entirely possible to make a Xbox handheld.

I like to think I'm not taking sides but from what I've seen, the DS sucks so badly I can fathom why it's doing to good aside from the childish asians that love that kind of lame $h!t. So one could say that the only reason it's doing so good is because it's for kids and asians. Regardless, the DS is pure junk! I own one and can't get rid of it. I don't even use it because it sucks so badly compared to the PSP. 360 is nice but the PS3 smokes it. Now I've been waiting for the X-Held to arrive and the PSPlite, this will be very cool if they are both showed at the E3. I'd like to see what the X-Held is capable of and whats new with the PSPlite. I haven't even touched a wii because it looks like an over grown DS and yall know how I feel about DS by now. So in short, I'm looking to the X-Held + PSPlite as real E3 news. I love nintendo but eveything after the N64 is just a flat flop to me. So I guess now it's up to MS and SONY to keep the market for gaming consoles going because if nintendo keeps up at the rate they are going, they'll fade away like sega did, if they keep producing trash like DS and wii, I eagerly anticipate their most imminent demise.

Its up to the consumer to pick what platform they want. Personally the Xbox is much much better for myself - its geared towards online gamers and also a PC background audience. That fits my criteria completely.
The Wii is more for families etc / casual gamers. It has absolutely no hardcore games on it atm but was never aimed at those consumers.
The PS3 is more of a merge between the two however is far too expensive atm and its game sales are doing poorly. With a price drop and some decent games it will come out of its shell.

i agree with you about why microsoft's leading, except for on the broken console part... Microsoft replaces inoperable consoles for anyone who bought and live in the countrys Xbox is released in.. so they generally lose money each time somebody's console breaks.
They don't however replace inoperable replacements.. which somewhat defeats the purpose for sending one.. so they do make money in those cases.

Fanboys quit fighting! All of the current consoles out there have good and bad things about them. The 360 has the best games out at the time, but they've also had an extra year to do do that. The PS3 looks incredible, and plays blu-ray (remember that blu-ray and hd-dvd are still competing). And the Wii is really fun and you actually work out while playing. But the 360 breaks all the time (both my original and 360 have broken before), the PS3 is still very expensive, and their must be something wrong with Wii's too (don't have one yet so I know almost nothing about them). Does anyone think Mac will get into the console gaming industry? An iGame might be pretty cool.
Resistance, Motor storm, Warhawk (you wanna pull out future games?) Killzone 2, Heavenly sword, Lair, Haze (4 a while), Mgs4... All your looking foward to is Halo...? LoL And games went multiplatform NOT exclusive to the 360. (so we still have GTA dumbas5)
And think the PS3 games are matching the 360s graphics wise, So imagine when devs learn to use the Cell.

I hope they bring out a xbox 360 handheald, chances are it will have graphics somewhere in between the xbox and 360. and hopefully it has a built in hard drive 8 gigs at least. If it costs 300 to 400 i would buy it. Better then the dam Iphone, 9 gigs and your paying more then you would for a 80 gig Video Ipod. Total bull, probably costs them 100 dollers or less to make.

Last time I went to best buy nintendo wii games were all $50+. Plus, playstation and xbox games have a tendency to lower in price sooner... for pete's sake SUPER MARIO STRIKERS AND SMASH BROTHERS ARE STILL LIKE $40 at best buy while God of War for ps2's dropped to 19.99.
And 'good'... I don't see much good besides anything nintendo's released themselves.
putting 1gb of RAM into this portable xbox would be crazy. the psp only has 64mb. and they wouldnt put vista on it. why not? well... does the 360 have vista? your thinking more of a tablet pc or a laptop mate. and they wouldnt make it open source, so putting mac on it? damn. your pretty stupid.
and for the wii shortage. it DOES exist. ive been trying to get one for about a month now, and there is a HUGE shortage. and now im going to wait for the one with the hard drive, which i think nintendo would probably sell for about 299.99. and im guessing a 20gb? id pay 300 for it. and the psp redesign is going to take a while to hack. if it will be hackable that is. theyve learnt from there mistakes.

They're gaming consoles, so cool it. Well, it's time to elaborate on my opinion. First of all, I personally wanted the Wii because i heard The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the best games out there. After buying it, I can say that it's true. Sure, it's a slow beginning, but it gets so damn fun afterward. Also, there are other powerful games on it, so it doesn't disappoint at all. The PS3...I've only played it once before, so I can't say much. But I must say, it needs better games. By the time Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII come out, I guarantee it will own all. The XBox 360 isn't so bad, but the games could be a bit better. Although, Elder Scrolls is fantastic. Too bad it's on the PS3, too. I just can't wait for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars to come out on the Wii Virtual Console. That is one of the best games by Square to date, I guarantee it.

Sony announced a price drop today for the ps3 and announced a 80gb ps3 bundled with motorstorm! One more thing while I am on my rant here. Buying a Wii does not make you suck. The Wii is a very entertaining console. You all need to forget new graphics and physics and go back to the game play. The Wii has some pretty ingenious stuff. It was designed as an inexpensive,fun and interactive system.

I've been done buying new consoles and games for a while now because they continue to ripoff the consumer. Every 3 months a new version of the xbox comes out, or talk of ps3 having more features. Of course my fave, the psp and how psp2 is coming. Whocares!!!!!!! ! They screw people, i'd rather just watch the youtube videos of the games and check them out that way or rent a machine then purchase these days. They've taken all the fun out of the video game market.

The Xbox is right now number 1 because it has been out for an over a year, and it has good games out. The PS3 is getting some games soon enough, that's what happens with new consoles, the good games don't come out atleast after a year or so.
There isn't a shortage of Wiis, there are just more people that want them than Nintendo can possibly make.

Personally i like ps3 better than 360. I had both. The ps3 broke down on me once while the 360 broke down on me 1s a month. For me i look tords the future. The ps3 is just much more reliable and more possibilitys for it. I jus tgot linux for it and its freaking sweet. Too bad ytou cant tweak with the graphics card. But you can run some games on it (unreal). Man defiently the 360 has way more games. But if you look at it the 360 at 7 months didnt have many die for games. Unless you likes graw or pgr3. I mean the ps3 doesnt have many games but it will soon. 08' i think is defientlys ps3 year. theres well over a 100 games coming out like mgs4. That game looks really good. Also gran turismo 5 is coming next summer so that game is going to be crazy. GTHD has defiently some good graphics. Better than forza 2 not enviormentaly but cars wise.
