Two of videogame history's most beloved heroes go head-to-head at the greatest competition of sports history in this E3 trailer video of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, the title coming out for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii. We get you the facts and just the facts in this rather bizarre-but-awesome IP that pits two legendary licenses against each other.

While one can argue that Sonic could automatically win every speed-based event, and Mario would be an absolute shoe-in for the world record when it comes to the swimming and jumping events, it seems that everyone's playing fair this time - if the first race in the trailer is anything to go by, it seems. Still, if it means a next-gen Track & Field-ish game with our favorite characters, a little suspension-of-disbelief isn't too much to ask for, isn't it?

If you compare how fast the screen moves in super mario world and sonic the hedgehog there's really not that much difference. Plus good luck on the water events, sonic, seing that he and knuckles simply sink in water.
