Wii Fit - Image 1 Analysts have had the chance to air their predictions prior to this year's E3 in Santa Monica, where some of the forecasts held true while the others swung and missed. Gamespot ran an article recently on the impressions of familiar analysts on Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft's announcements.

Kicking things off for the think tank, Nintendo impressed everyone with the announcement of some new accessories for their Wii game console. The Zapper gun drew some attention and nobody could whine about the Mario Kart Wii steering wheel. But what got everyone riled up was upcoming biggie Wii Fit and the seemingly ingenious Balance Board set to ship with it.

Wii Fit and its Balance Board "looks good and will appeal to the casual audience that Nintendo is tapping into," says Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital markets as he observed the Kyoto-based company's successful press conference.

Other analysts like Nollenberger Capital Markets' Todd Grunewald agree. He comments "Wii Fit should expand the market even further for Nintendo, and maybe some nimble publishers like Ubisoft and Majesco can benefit from it. I don't think it will be as big as Brain Age or Wii Sports, though."

Meanwhile, Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter admits he was wrong with his prediction of a price drop announcement for the Microsoft Xbox 360, saying that the firm may have decided that it was best not to do it for the meantime. Doing a price drop at the same time when they announced an extended warranty for the console could send wrong signals about the quality of their wares.

His counterparts in the other firms agreed that right now, there's no compelling reason for Microsoft to lower its prices. Sebastian, however, says that the drop may not have to wait too long to happen as he predicts it to occur sometime during the summer.

As for the Sony PlayStation 3, analysts welcomed the recent reduction in retail pricing, but said that a stronger line of games was necessary if the kings of the last two game console cycles want to make a three-peat. Analysts have marked 2008 as the mist crucial time frame for the system.

yep

Wii fit is a joke. Just more crap ninty wants it's 'non gamers' to waste money on. Too bad ninty fans dun have any real games to play. Aside from mario all they've got is crappy mini games and tech demos that appeal to grandma. While the ninty fans are "boogieing" and "Wii Fiting" us real gamers will be enjoying our Halos, Assassin's Creeds, Hazes, RE5s, MGS4s, COD4s and ton of other superior games.

please, continue

i'd like to see how many more mediocre games you can name. metriod, smash bros, mario kart, and zelda are the only games worth playing on wii.

mediocre?

its funny how you say mediocre when you name games like haze and assasin's creed when those will both be mediocre games, and you play them in the same way you do with other games and besides wii fit is more to introduce the balance board and set a new way for gameplay on other games. and we can argue about what games are good for each system but its just gonna be a matter of opinion for each of us, but i believe that anyone that calls himself a "real gamer" is someone who plays games for fun and plays all genre's of games not just one or two styles of games.

interesting...

it seems the PS3 is still out-selling the competition by a wide margin http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=pd_dp_ts_vg_1/105-8208739-8003631 the Wii is holding well at number 4 [as of this writing].....the 360 is way behind at [16],seems that customers are finaly aware of the potential headache of having to buy an unreliable product that may very well leave them to the repair center for a week at any random moment hopefuly...sony,s strategy of selling the 60GB stock, then replacing it with a new 80GB deal at the holidays will help maintain the lead i guess its the PS3 against the Wii.......its hard to out-sell a 250$ gimmick continiously but hopefully it will happen

Shut your mouth

Nobody knows what Haze will be like but from what we can all gather Assassin's Creed is going to be amazing. When the games gets reviewed by IGN and Gametrailers I want you to return to this reply and fornicate yourself with a pitch fork you tosser.

hey regulator

you cant use sales ranks from amazon for anything as they change every hour, sure the ps3 is quite high now in the US due to the US-only price drop but on other amazons its not doing so well and every few hours the 360 beats it with the wii outseling both of them pretty much all the time

I Laughed..

That's Rich.. Halo 3 ain't brilliant, in fact, it's rather mediocre. Doom 3 was better than Halo 1 & 2, so I can't see Halo 3 being any better. I like PS3 and 360, (I've got a 360 aswell as Wii) but anything that comes out on PS3, I can get on 360. (That includes MGS4.. Come on Konami, just announce it already! You're only keeping the sony fanboys happy until you have to crush the PS3's last hope of surviving.)

hehehe

i will love when the xbots get metal gear with dumb down graphics and sound. Wii & PS3 FTW!
