Considering that Kojima's announcement was on Microsoft's stint, Kojima said that Metal Gear Solid Rising is "in development" for the Xbox 360. By no means is that a final word on platform exclusivity though.
And as for the specula-thon, I remember this interesting flashback made by G.Spenny on our second article on the countdown that probably explains all that rain. Remember that scene?
Note that the comment was made before Raiden showed up in the teaser page. As for the Raiden origin part, it's plausible, but it remains to be confirmed.
And if you're still wondering about the creepy mask, it's still there, and Kojima hasn't said anything about it yet.
*UPDATE*
This just in, info from Games Press reveals that Metal Gear Solid: Rising isn't an Xbox 360 exclusive - it's also coming to the PS3 and the PC. My guess is that it'll have its PS3 announcement later in the expo when it's Sony's turn.

I'm assuming if it stars Raiden it's not a straight up stealth game like the others?. Maybe more of an ation game involving swords and whatnot

It puts a June 2-4 date so there should be more to be seen or they have something set up for the booths about this game since if I remember correctly today was only presentation, and June 2-4 there are demo booths.
As you can tell its going to be lots of "Lightning Bolt Action" compared to MGS usual "Tactical Espionage Action"
going to be exclusive to Xbox 360 since it was after the part where he said from now on it will be only experiences you can have on the Xbox 360 and then a big screen comes out that say "Only on Xbox"
kojima said it will be a completely new metal gear gameplay experience which means it wont be like mgs4. thats sad, the money grubbing whores back at microsoft love destroying good games by paying a ***** load of money to bring it to their limited console. I really hope that mgs5 is ps3 exclusive and that it keeps all of its power, detail, and beauty, because if any of those are sacrificed to fit on 360 i will be pissed. i have been a metal gear fan for a long time and right now im saddened to think that the next metal gear might be downgraded so a bunch of ungreatful idiots can piss all over it. im only saying this because i played the ff13 demo and i saw the consequences. still im excited to play as raiden, i actually like him despite that a lot of people diss him for unknown reasons
i think he said the "next 10 games" will be xbox exclusive, and Kojima announced it after the 10 games. and MS spokeman made a statement after saying the game is announced for MS, but did not state its exclusively. anyways, hopefully it's not. it would be a rather bad choice to have it exclusively for MS since that's pretty much leaving the fan base out to dry. Going multiplatform seems like an ok idea.

so yes 360 is getting a sequel, but a 'totally new gaming experience' 'Lightning bolt action' instead of ' Tactical Espionage Action'.
So even though a Solid title is going to 360, it's not what we think it is in terms of gameplay.
If you watch the teaser trailer played at e3, you'll notice they use the exact image of raiden from the kojima productions teaser site.
But why didn't they use Big Bosses picture?
Because it's a completely different game in development for the PS(3 P?) who knows, but Sony none the less..

Just a speculation, but I'm looking at the Playstation game taking the trademark they registered last year

MGS3 is the very very first installment, this Existence that i speculate will be after Portable Ops, before Metal Gear 1 for NES.
hence why the RISING title would be a direct sequel after 4.

Raiden = Rising, for 360 and possibly PS3, although I won't mind if it's a 360 exclusive since it's "Lightning Bolt Action" rather than Tactical Espionage. The game will obviously be a much more action-oriented title.
This is pure bulls#"t, this just proves that anyone is willing to sell their soul for a few extra bucks. Way to go hideo kojima, you just lost another fan for going from an awesome console-exclusive series to just another sold out franchise. That's freaking lame, now the graphics will be bumped down A LOT and we'll have to stick with the crappy 360 graphics and crappy processor :/ way to go...
No you fool. People like money. Money makes people go. Its like fuel. Lets take a look at Pixar. They're a quality driven company. Originally they didn't plan to do that much for Disney, Disney bought them and told them to create. So on Pixar's terms they decided that if they were going to make anything they would have full control over it and not be forced onto times tables or anything of that sort.
With Kojima, I would assume the same thing. He's making more games yes. But he's not the type to go ahead and let his game be watered down. Only if a game is worth making will he make it. And then, on his terms in his way. Microsoft wanted a Metal Gear. They yearned for it. They wanted MGS4 but they couldn't have that so they got Metal Gear Rising. Its not a Metal Gear Solid game. Its a Metal Gear game and for all we know it'll be a great addition to the series just not different. Kojima gave no real details though as to what team was developing it or even the consoles it would be for, PS3 fans shouldn't get butt hurt. If I'm not mistaken there were 3 faces in that teaser. Big Boss, Raiden, and the weird Mask. For all we know, they're 3 new games. Raiden for 360, Big Boss for PSP. And the Mask referring to PS3 in some weird Kojima way. We'll see in time. I'm just glad the speculation "That Raiden looking guy is Gray Fox" is dead lol.
Also, if that one person was the only one who saw the lightning + Raiden then I'm kinda sad that nobody on Qj seems to watch the cut scenes in their games.

actually Big Boss is for the PSP game Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker...and I'm not excited for Raising...the game is wont be about stealth it seems, I think is gonna be Devil May cry kinda game...which isn't cool for Metal Gear IMO...metal gear spinoffs arent good...only AC!D I liked...
But you know it's worth the Fallout 3 DLC and Ninja Gaiden. But now people will argue about which version is better excluding the PC version. I'll still get this for PS3 though because I hate disc swapping.

People around the net are surprisingly underwhelmed by this announcement. The only people making the huge fuss are the 360 fanboys saying like, "ohhh sony fanboi tears~" or whatever. It's a side story/game. It would be the same as if they'd announced FF7 Dirge of Cerebrus on the Xbox or something. I think everyone was expecting MGS4(the flagship title) to maybe hit the 360. But now that it's a bargain bin title and it's already been so long, no one would care if that ever hit the Box. But I hope this Rising game is decent. Kojima's a great creator, but he's had some missteps. I'm personally looking forward to the next portable MGS. I LOOOOOOOOOVED portable ops.

makes sense now... i reckon that the picture of Big Boss might Actually be Solidus from MGS2, but a younger version, coz i know he and raiden were involved together years before the events of MGS2.

If it's a Metal Gear Solid game not based on Stealth then you can count me out. A character whose actually a superb soldier and a master at stealth (Snake) who was bada55 was something new. I don't want another game with a Protagonist who just runs around cutting down everything with a sword, there are too many of those games out.
Still want to know what they're going to do for story. It has to be an in between of MGS 3 and IV because the Solid story is pretty much complete...
Lol, this will be great. 360 players who have played the previous MGS1,2,3 on PS2 will play this to get more backstory and then...have to buy a PS3 to play MGS4 to get the complete expierience. So really Kojima just put salt on the wound of the 360's lack of MGS4.
Its also on the PS3 I hope theres a different MGS like Kojima promised for the PS3 with the Big Boss image It ll probaley be shown today and maybe itll be MGS5 because rising is like a 3.5 metal gear and the Big Boss image should be MGS5

I'm a bit of a Metal Gear obsessive and a big fan of Kojima so it was really an educated guess.
I'm going to be taking my first step into the games design business in October; I'm attending a Games Design course taught by a senior member of TT Games. I can only hope my future projects become as popular XD

Im not a fan of the Metal Gear games, but im a fan of Playstation. Microsoft really pissing me off now, buying all the decent games, GTA, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil. Why dont they work on their own *****. Utter *****s.
