We've barely got a grip on the Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360) release and we're already checking out Final Fantasy XIV stuff. In cased you missed the E3 2009: Sony Press Conference earlier, Square Enix announced that they will be launching Final Fantasy XIV, a new MMORPG, as early as 2010, and as early as now, the official site is now live.

Here are a few screens from the site, there's also a trailer if you'd like to go check it out. Hiromichi Tanaka of FF I-III will be producing, Nobuaki Komoto of IX and XI will be directing, and Nobuo Uematsu will handle the music like always.

Final Fantasy XIV is slated for a simultaneous global release in 2010 for the PS3 and the PC, but it doesn't get any more specific than that, like a margin, PC requirements, or pricing.

» Another one?

Another FF game?

fourteen?

When I heard this while viewing the conference live, I burst out laughing. Thirteen's not even out, how about that "13 versus" or whatever they called it.

They should come up with a new title, this is getting repetitive. As is the theme in the games -.-

How about uhmm.. Cool RPG I? or Fantasy World I?

I know what you mean. They should have a separate naming scheme for the MMO's. When I heard him say it I thought he was joking. Then I saw it was an MMO and understood how they can have it come out at the same time as XIII, as well as have it being developed at the same time.

I never played XI but a lot of my friends did and still do, I like MMO RPGs but I'll probably being playing Aion when this comes out but I can't say I'm not curious about this game. Naming aside, it looks pretty cool.

I wonder how they'll do that on the PS3... will we need credit cards or what?

It would be awesome if it would be for free!

I hate monthley fees...

» Agreed!

i wish it was free too, but thats alomost impossible lol if its a good game they charge us lots to make more profit lol i dont think it even cost that much to maintain it lol

» omg... ps3 version!

i'm totally going to play this if it's not very expensive...! i'm tired of playing mmorpgs in my pc

i was going to buy white knight chronicles for sure, but now with this announcement, i'm not that sure anymore

ps3 ftw

» Agreed

Yeah but if it's like 10$ for a month it'd be fine I guess... but I'd think twice about getting the game.

If it would be free, it'd be a must-have...

and if it would be free they'd get enough money from the sales to pay for the servers I think^^

» haha..

This looks dumb! Runescape for the win!!!

Haha just kidding...This looks amazing!! I want this really badly. The graphics look outstanding, even better than XIII :)

» meh

i guess they also need money for further development,,up dates and they need to continue to pay the developers and what have you to continue to work on it. its not just maintaining the servers it maintaining the whole code of the game, for example in world of warcraft there is constant tweaking of the game so it always plays out as fair as possible to everyone.
