We still don't know a lot about the game (the E3 2009 trailer Nintendo showed revealed two different views, though -- first-person and third-person), but we do have these three screenshots to share with you guys. Check 'em out below.
Team Ninja and Nintendo's Metroid: Other M is slated for a 2010 release.

I'm so happy, my excitment can't be contained, I'm bouncing off the walls. I'm so grateful Nintendo is doing something with Nintendo after MP3, unlike what happened after Super Metroid. And about this, there's only one thing I can say: Metroid Dread.
This is Metroid Other M. Basically a prequel to the whole series of Metroid by Team Ninja. This will be extremely awesome though, can't wait to play. At times, it look like Super Metroid on steroids.
the graphics quality looks weak...but this is just a pre pre pre pre pre screen shot or something....they should have made Metroid 3rd person for game cube and I'm might have got interested...this still doesnt catch my attention...Super Metroid FTW
Do it no justice. Watch the trailer on Youtube or IGN. It looks incredible. Graphics in a few scenes of Samus' armor look a little weak but it is early and they could polish it. Sorta like how that video for Last Guardian got fixed up nice for E3.

so, uhmm... most of us here can't wait. but i guess, there are plenty of games to rummage around until 2010 with AC2 coming and SC:Conviction, Beyond Good and Evil 2, many more. Just can't wait... But I'm definitely gonna look up for this new platform metroid on wii. Oh man!!! Now, this reminds me of a south park episode where cartman frost his ass off to the future cause he can't wait for the wii to come out. haha
This doesnt look like a prequel. For some obvious reasons. Am i the only one who noticed Mother Brains Super Metroid Form? The Two legged Brain who shot Samus with a particle beam in the trailer? Thats Mother Brain. Not to mention that the woman at the end looks very much like Zero Suit Samus in a lab coat. Theres more to this story than meets the eye. Im thinking its a sequel to Metroid Fusion. With the new Samus being a Daugthter or clone to the original. Thus the "Other M" moniker. Or it may be a retelling/sequel.
Because in Fusion, they state that her old power suit was supposed to be destroyed. So, wouldn't this be before fudion?
Unless its NOT Samus with a power suit. Like i mentioned before, could be a daughter or clone. The real Samus seems to be the one in the lab coat
