E3 2009: Invizimals debut trailer

Ó

You guys remember Eye of Judgement and how it used the PlayStation Eye to capture gestures and the like? Invizimals for the PSP is kinda like that PS3 game infused with some Pokemon elements.

Invizimals allows players to interact with their environment, using the PSP camera attachment to look for invisible creatures. Using the PSP on-screen sensor, players can track down Invizimals and lay down "magical traps" (it's just a special square stand, actually) to capture as many of them as possible. Once they're captured, they can be used to fight other players.

It looks like and is totally being presented as a kiddie game, but it's actually quite interesting. Seeing this game made me think of the upcoming DSi title Ghostwire, which kind of has a similar camera usage mechanic, only instead of tiny magic animals you look for ghosts. If they bring that to PSP (and add a ghost-fighting feature) I'd gladly spring for a camera.

» it is cool, but...

i must say the technology and the gameplay is pretty cool, although it really isn't something you'd want to be caught playing when your older friends came over....

You probably still play Leapfrog toys as well. Being 19 doesn't make you any less of a queer.

» Nice

While it does seem like a somewhat childish game, I would totally buy it. It would be nice to see if AMERICA actually gets the CAMERA and the GPS without having to import. If this game is showing that, I wouldn't mind it at all. I think I would have fun doing this with my 3 year old son.

I caught just a small glimpse of it in a montage video and thought it looked nifty.

Reminds me of Scanerz. Anyone ever played it before? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skannerz

It's just like this but you scan barcodes to find monsters and items.

» Cheer up

Surely the announcement of this game is confirmation the camera is coming to NA. But it may be a PSP Go exclusive camera... (new connector or maybe a sled).

Also the guy narrating the trailer sounds like the same guy in Sony's Monster Hunter Unite trailer.
