E3 2008: Hydrophobia screens, teaser trailer finally surface |
Ó

Guess I was right on the money! Hydrophobia really does hold water! It's not about to be chucked into the vaporware bin now - especially since we've got new screens and a teaser trailer to boot! Ha! In fact, I'm sure some of you guys might now be more excited for Hydrophobia after seeing these assets!
To say that I'm gushing (no pun intended) with joy over seeing some substantial development on the Hydro Engine is quite an understatement. The screens we saw from before are absolutely nothing compared to what we have now. Just look at that gorgeous water!
Now here's something to consider:
- the in-game footage is rendered in real-time (i.e. they're not CGI movies)
- they're labeled as work in progress (which means, there's still a chance for improvement when the final build is implemented)
Sweet, huh? Now all Blade Interactive has to do is finally confirm the platforms it will be released in. The last time we heard anything was that Hydrophobia will be coming out for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but after about a year of no announcements, it could be that the game's platform releases have changed since then.
Now for the teaser. The screenshots are still. Now, the moment of truth: what does the Hydro Engine have to say about its much boasted "most advanced water technology ever seen in a game" water graphics in action? Watch.

IM First the game looks alryt
this looks pretty cool
niice! i cant wait for that to come out! and, QJ, do you know anything about how old players have to be to play the game? (sorry, i'm norwegian)
Sorry man, I'm not really sure yet what the game rating will be. Few details have been revealed as of now - we don't even have a final release date yet. Don't worry, we'll let you know of the rating once we get word. If I'd make a guess though, maybe it'd be a game for 15 or 16 and up. My only basis here is comparing it to Drake's Fortune though. If it's going to be classified like the Tomb Raider series, it could even be rated low enough for ages 12 and up in some regions. I could be wrong, so don't quote me on it (...yet). ;-)
