E3 2008: Age of Conan to get new expansion, dungeon, areas, features |
Ó
Product Manager for Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, Erling Ellingson, was interviewed at E3 2008 where he revealed that they were already working on a new expansion, a new dungeon, locations, as well as various other features.According to Ellingson, the development team is currently focusing on fixing the bugs in the game, namely, improvements on city sieging which he said has seen a performance increase of 300 percent as well as a few of the other problems players have reported. He also pointed out that they were already beginning work on an expansion for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures.
He also said that players can expect new content to be available in the game soon including new regions for characters such as the level 55+ area called Ymir's Pass. The developers hope this will help address the issues of thinning mid-game content.
Another thing Ellingson touched on is the addition of the new Fugitive and consequence system in the game. The fugitive and consequence system essentially has players dropping loot upon death (yes, the loot will come from what you're carrying or your inventory) as well as being open to attack by everyone without their own fugitive levels increasing.
Finally, Ellingson talked about the new dungeon. He said: "We [Funcom] are working on a dungeon called House of Crom – it looks really cool! But that’s all I’m going to say on that."
House of Crom? Now, I'm not really sure about this one but I'm guessing that the entrance to this area will be in the Eiglophian Mountains, right next to the area where you have to take out the Hyperborean Messenger and Vanir Intermediary. As to what the dungeon will contain however, that's something that we will have to wait for.
So it looks like big things are in store for Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. All we have to do (and can do) now is wait and hope that Funcom does a good job with the additional content for the game.

An expansion already? I think they're getting a little ahead of themselves. They should FIRST focus on the content in the current damn version (and make sure it's all balanced and stable from the start). People were right - this is going the way of LOTR as being only for that niche market.
Well, they are making a little headway with that. Hopefully, before they start seriously working on that expansion they do make the game more stable and balance out everything. As for its progression towards becoming the next LOTR, well, we'll have to see if that does happen although I wouldn't be surprised if it did turn out that way.
