World of Warcraft running on iPhone |
Ó
Joyce noted that the experience wasn't that smooth given WoW's textures, graphics, and sound settings among others. Despite that, Alan Joyce mentioned that he could control several actions in the MMO video game through the iPhone interface like receiving and responding to in-game chat messages.
Anyone seeing a future deal between Blizzard and Apple? Possibly a WoW client for the iPhone? We guess we'll have to wait and see.

That's very neat. The weird part is that i actually dreamed about someone doing this 2 nights ago......hmmmmm. Maybe tonight I'll dream about my iPhone being unlocked so i can use it in Ontario with Rogers
Failure Nr 1: You can clearly see on the Notebook the character at the login screen is animated (moves left / right a bit) - The char on iPhone doesnt
Failure Nr. 2: YOu can clearly see on the Notebook the character at the login screen has a big bad hammer (sort of) in hand - The char on iPhone doesnt
Failure Nr 3: The "loading" bar goes from zero (not blue) to full (blue) within a secon. I play WoW since 1.5 years now and havent seen this yet (and I got a very fast computer, dual core etc)
Failure Nr 4: At login he zooms to a other character (at about 2:44 of the movie) who has PvP shoulders. Those shoulders are normally animated (fire animation) - I dont see an animation
Failure Nr 5: A text bubble shows upright after. Text bubbles normally dissapear WAY faster
Failure Nr 6: The guild chat is pretty inactive... thats absoultly not normal, specially on alliance side. And also, there's no general or trade chat.
-------------------------------------------
Besides... whith such a bad navigation you wont go anywhere in WoW. I wouldnt even call it "playing"... its more like looking at it.
This (for me) is 100% Fake and prolly is a slideshow or powerpoint sort of.
DerDude: You forgot the fact he had MonkeyQuest on ;)
That's retarded, did you see how much trouble he had with the touch response, I swear to god he clicked each thing that he wanted to click like 3-5 times a piece. It would just be irritating.
this is a lame video
who would wanna play wow like that even if it doesnt even look like your playing it looks like your being a stupid apple user to me. all the same at least they didnt attempt to put final cut on a iphone lol
I bet he had troubles clicking the right button on his laptop because he had to use his left-hand (and he is most likely a righty).
This is real. Read his website, it uses a program called Telekinesis, using the mac to run the program.

Can't see blackberrys doin this.......
old news lol.. i saw this vid awhile ago
u know you're at one of the low points in your life when you dream about playing wow...
hey now wow players can play outside!!!
wait they can't stand natural light... oh well at least you can still play outside at night
This is cool, however...
This is NOT running on the Iphone, it is running on the mac, and he is sharing the interface, similar to windows net meeting with remote control, or any one of other remote control programs.
The idea is kind of cool however, and while it would NOT be practical for actual game play (i.e. combat)it might allow you to remotely check auctions or something like that.
why the ***** would anybody want to do this? on a blackberry? who the ***** cares. WoW is for addicted people with no lives outside their computer monitors
No animation means either a 1fpm rate or fake.
Even if it was true it's not RUNNING on the iPhone. It would only be having the image streamed to the iPhone.
gj on not spotting the obvious, qj.
Telekinesis is essentially a VNC client/server setup. If you've ever accessed your computer with VNC and opened WoW you will understand that the screen refresh is VERY slow due to the complexity of what's being rendered. In such a case refreshes are so delayed in most cases that it will seem as though there is no animation (think more along the lines of 1 frame every 5 seconds). You essentially get a slideshow affect as it slowly refreshes, like we see here on the Iphone. This accounts for Failure #1, Failure #3, Failure #4, and Failure #5. #6 is nothing more than your experience with gchat (good for you). As for #2... look a bit closer, that IS the staff he's wielding in-game not a hammer. GG. This is both doable and nothing new aside from the fact that its on the Iphone. Grat2u nubz. ;D
Look how bad the interface is!
Poking and prodding away at the unresponsive screen, trying to get it to scroll / zoom!
And can you even imagine writing a long text message on that horrorshow of a screen? It takes him about 15 seconds to write the word "yes" LOLOLOL
SO glad I never got one of those POS iPhones
