Apple's history with videogames has been a grim one. Their unwise attempt to place a simple version of Mac OS 7 into a game system didn't go over well. The Bandai Pippin (the name of the console) was released in 1996 and was ripped apart by the Nintendo 64, Playstation, and the Sega Saturn. Contributing to the failure was the $599 dollar price tag at launch. The Pippin quickly fell into obscurity.Even computer games haven't gone well for Apple. Macintosh only receives best-selling PC games and often has to wait six to twelve months for the company to port the game. Apple's doomed gaming affairs may be turned upside-down...
Back in May, GameSpot ran a report on a secret division of Apple that focuses on videogames. Mike Lampbell, the technical director at LucasArts, is supposedly in charge. Speculation has led to one popular theory: The team is in charge of bring games to the iPod.
This just begs the question, "Why would Apple draft such a big name in the industry to make such simple gaming titles?" Well, they probably didn't. Online conspiracies suggest that the company is preparing for the begginings of what very well may be the biggest video game buy out in history...
'Apple may buy Nintendo.' The thought may seem crazy at first, but it is logical. Apple's market cap is $51.7bn compared to Nintendo's $23.1bn proving that it is an affordable purchase. The motives behind the buy out make sense: Apple wants games, and Nintendo wants style. Apple has been trying to achieve the power of videogames ever sense the mid-90s, and Nintendo has taken a stylish turn with their console design for the Wii and the DS Lite. The two companies would compliment each other perfectly.
If the conspiracy does come true, the process will be most likely be a friendly takeover or merger. In the case of a merge, Apple would probably try to persuade Nintendo in forming a new company.
Despite which way it is done, the Apple/Nintendo empire will provide some tough competition for Microsoft. Both the Wii and the Xbox 360 would be backed by a major computer company. Will these plans even materialize? More importantly, how would such a merger effect the video game industry? Only time will tell.

If this merger of Apple and Nintendo happens the rise of Mullecorp will happen. This must be stopped, Nintendo doesnt know that Apple is made by Mullecorp. The only people that can stop this is: AR. If Mullecorp is coming AR is coming too and AR shall win over Mullecorp.

if that were to happen then Apple would make Nintendo's console less affordable! Then again their Virtual Console would work nicely on the iPod and the VC would look like iTunes... now it doesn't seem so bad...
this is bulls*** i have always been of the theory that sony should buy nintendo annhilating apple bringing the classics shuch as mario and nintendos inovative ideas to sony superior attitude and improvements mario zelda and metroid are the only real things missing from the sony consoles

Seeing as Nintendo already rejected Microsoft's offer a few years back, I don't think it'll happen. MS's offer was 25 billion USD and they still said no =P

I think Nintendo just needs to pay a little more attention to power. If they couple better graphics and their curent inovations and their price control together they will have a kick ass console.
If your theory were to actually materialise (unlikely) how many people do you think will be able to afford game consoles?
Stop talking nonsense. Sure sony puts more raw power behind their consoles and they do nothing more than push for graphics. That gets old after a while. Sony's 'superior attitude that you have spoken of is going to cause them to loose their grip on the gaming industry. If anything sony should be learning from Nintendo. the only thing I personally think sucks for the Wii is their lack of at least current generation graphics, but I share the opinion of many others that as developers experiment for the system graphics will increase for later games. One example of this previously happening is with Majoras mask and Conkers BFD for the 64.

And just becuz apple sucks w/ games dosnt mean they want to spend almost hald their budget cap on nintendo..thats wayy too much of a risk and it wont happen.....and microsoft will not buy out sony as well....if anything happens, then sony will close their doors on the playstation and try a different system or not do any consoles at all....but i dont see that happening anytime soon....but the 600.00 price tag will hurt...look at all the other consoles that priced high...all were doomed quickly so we dont know but they are offering one hell of a system for 600.00 its still a deal..i mean go to best buy and buy urself a lousy outdated 512mb card for ur comp which wont even run the latest games smoothly and that will cost you about 300.00 right there...so ppl just need to stop "what iffing"

That's retarded. Last I heard the majority of Nintendo is still owned by a few Japanese individuals (namely ex-president of Nintendo Hiroshi Yamauchi) who would never sell, and especially never sell to an american company. Nintendo is Japanese-based, and they have all the "style" they need in Japan right now. These rumours are lame.
Remember what Hiroshi Yamauchi said to Microsoft when he tried buying Nintendo? "Suck my tiny yellow balls" is what he said. Actually that never really happened but there is no reason why Nintendo would allow themselves to be bought, they are a very profitable company and I'm sure their shareholders don't want that to be changed.

the only thing that i could say, is that the design of the DS Lite, its very "apple style", i dont saying anithing, but its pretty weird to me, very identical to be honest, maby appel's mind involved on that design......Why Not!? =S

Well if they do merge nintendo could aford berer hardware apple stocks will go up. We would have mac osx on our nintendo's. I mean nintendo has been like apple in the video game world they are the most inovative game company and apple is always thinking difrent. The are like two pees in a pod.
By the way wii and the gamecube use the old power pc core of the mac so well gamecube and we are mac compatable but not intell mac. APPLE has the music bizz they are a super power of disny there computers rock!!! Apple nintendo merge may never happen but.........It would be the best thing that has hapend since the envention of sliced bread. I see it now!!!!

Apple's corporate attitude problem is actually worse than Sony's. If this ever does happen, you can forget everything that makes Nintendo worth keeping alive. I really don't want to be the guy 20 years down the road who still keeps old Nintendo systems because no one can stand the new ones.
Microsoft tried to buy out Nintendo, and incase you haven't heard, Microsoft was told to "suck [some] tiny yellow nuts" by the one represenative of Nintendo. If Nitnendo wouldn't sell to Microsoft, what on earth makes you think they'll do this with Apple?
